Hello,

does anyone know if it is possible to cycle from the club site at Normanhurst Battle along the 1066 trail to Crowhurst and then on to Battle. I have looked at the site reviews and 1066 site - they mention walking but no mention of whether it is permissible/suitable to cycle. Also if it is possible how long/ far might it be to Battle. (Again there is mention of distance/time to Crowhurst but not onto Battle.

Or is there a nearby bus route - there is no mention of this on the club site so I'm guessing not?

We would like to visit the site but my husband is unable to walk more than a flat couple of miles.

Many thanks for any relevant info.

Hi Bev, We walked from Normanhurst to Battle Abbey about three years ago. It’s a lovely walk just over 2.5 miles. Took us about 1.5 hours. It is quite undulating towards Battle end with couple of steep climbs. I don’t think it permissible with a bike especially again at the Battle end, although just possible.

I would try the walk, it’s easy to Catsfield, where there is a Pub, If it gets too difficult, turn round and stop in the Pub!

We didn’t go on to Crowhurst so can’t speak of that bit.

    Ken

Thank you KenofKent. Still playing around with a few ideas but not until later in the year - I'll let you know if we go. We have a big trip to Spain and Portugal first. The ferry is booked etc.  I just like writing lists and planning ahead with ideas for further trips in the year.
