Caravan plates and bowls
most of us start off using melamine plates and cups, before paying a fortune for the corella toughened glass stuff
just to let you know ikea do a range of these toughened, shatterproof plates bowls and side plates.
so instead of paying £70-£90 for 4 of each, head to ikea and pay £9.00 for six of each. Yes 50p per item 😊😊😊😊😊😊

Hi
each plate is vert slightly heavier
out of interest I weighed our complete set and the ikea set was only 400g heavier than the melamine set we are going to replace
they do mugs, however we didn’t buy these as we like to either use our bucket size ones in the morning, and then wine glasses for the rest of the day🍷🍷
the range is caled oftast

Last year I bought some nice new melamine from the M&S outdoor range, J Lewis are good too, a bit heavier but worth a look. Some of the dept. stores have better designs than the camping type offers. I'd already got some plain Corelle from ebay (not too expensive if you shop around) but thanks for the tip about Ikea, it's been mentioned before and that's a good reminder.

If you’re in France, Carrefour do something like Corelle for under a euro a piece. I like the weight of China (or whatever), Melamine is too light for me, I let mine go with my van when I sold it.

I liked the dept store melamine because it's chunkier and bigger, good designs as well, probably start coming into the shops soon, just had a look, not much there yet. I pack the Corelle away to travel so plastic plates are handy and I like having both. I passed on the old camping melamine to a charity shop.

After a tip off on this forum we purchased Oast from IKEA. We had melamine and two small crockery dinner plates previously. Price was good and quality appears good too. We prefer bone China mugs so stuck with those. Oast travels in the plate rack no extra packing.

Bought a set of Corelle last year when caravan suppliers reduced price as "last years design", whatever difference that makes to your eating experience. The only problem is that we discarded all of the melamine plates before going away with new set and now need 2 side plates as we find the side plates on the Corelle too big for lunch or for bread etc. Went back to caravan shop but they don't sell them individually anymore, so may be looking through eBay, unless one of the stores starts their camping offers up soon (maybe Aldi or Lidl) or a specialist like Go Outdoors. Just having to wait for them to come into season.

I think the same TIgi, the stores have got ahead of camping suppliers with some good designs. I even bought a couple of spare plates from the NT last year, they're in on it too. It's just a bit early in the season for them to start appearing everywhere, but it won't be long.

Our plates are some form of white toughened glass with a pattered rim. Forget the make as I have probably had them over 30 years now. I discarded the cups and saucers to charity 12 yeas ago as we now prefer mugs. I don't like eating off melamine plates and like to heat the plates if serving hot food.
