Air Awning Advise

Hi

I don't know if any one can help us, we have a new elddis 115 and we would like to get an air awning, we have 2 little dogs so the extra room would be good, and also for socialising in the evenings when the weather is not so good,  We have been looking at the kampa pro rally but they are to high to fit our motor home by about 8cms.  Kampa do the same one for a caravan which is shorter in height is it possible to fit this to motor home, I would appreciate any help this is all new to us, we are enjoying the Motorhome way of life more so than foreign holidays.

    I will be going to GLOSSOP AWNINGS next week with my van so they can give me advice on what awning would be best for me. Maybe if you have any awning specialist near you that would be the best way to go.

    I like outdoor revolution air awnings for autosleeper executive approx height 2.8mtrs. But am unsure whether to buy med height or full height awning any advice please des.

    One thing I have noticed this winter is that air awnings tend to collapse quite readily with the weight of snow on them. Presumable if water does not run off easily the same will happened. They do seem to stand up to wind quite well.

    I presume that if air tubes are up to pressure at say 1pm on a sunny winter's day with say a temp of 7C then if it drops below freezing overnight there will be a significant pressure drop in the tube,

    Could I suggest you search the discussions for "awning" you will get some back dated advice.

    You could try "air awning" but the search criteria on this web site are  rather primitive (that's being kind ;-) )

    The rally pro for a caravan has a 6 mm beading, you need 4 mm. You can replace this by cutting off the bead and sewing on a 4 mm bead or use a figure of 8 with a 6 mm to 4 mm drive-away strip. We tried this with a small Suncamp awning but it was awkward as various bits slipped while fitting it. In the end my wife replaced the strip; We bought the 4 mm strip from Brian Park Camping.

    The Kampa Fiesta Pro for a caravan has a dual 4 mm and 6 mm strip so can be used on either caravan or motor-home. We use one on our Majestic 275. (An Elddis Encore 275 dealer special)

    Otherwise there is no difference between a caravan and motor-home awning. I think many low profile motor-homes have their wind-out awnings at a low height, our previous Bessacarr did.
