What changes would you make ?

just to clear K, it is between outfits not awning/car, as the club has stated that, apart from one or two sites like Sandringham, you can pitch nose in or reverse your van which could mean 3m awning to awning or car to car.
Unless you think like a previous former poster who said that your awning should always be to the right of your van (as you look at it from the front) and hence put your awning up on the non door side if reversed in?
There was a diagram showing this is a club magazine, It did also show that there should be 3m forward and behind too

I have a lousy memory. Who was the former poster? Please!

so, is a common theme booking a HS?
0 -
yes, but it would open up sites, to me anyway, where the number of HS is less than half?
Actually I wonder how many sites run up to full capacity of their grass pitches all the time throughout the season?.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - I will make sure this discussion is forwarded to the relevant departments for their reference and feedback.

That seems to be about it!!! We are very easily satisfied despite rumours to the contrary

1, book a H/S pitch
2, if no problem with access flexible arrival times
3, electric meters or choice of non electric pitches on all sites
4, rolling calendar to book 12 months in advance
5, Late availability for all week not just weekends.

mmm, is more service pitches getting second place?

It might well be. I do wonder if the fact that if you book a serviced pitch it almost guarantees a hardstanding might actually skew the popularity of such pitches? When I see so many motorhomes on serviced pitches it does make you think. I have no objection to serviced pitches but wonder that that we should first go down the route of being able to book hardstandings. If after that there is still an unfulfilled demand then perhaps then go ahead and add more to the network?

Yes I think you're right. You get do grumbles on here about SP not being used 'correctly'.

You get grumbles because somebody has booked all the pitches, because somebody has booked awning pitches, because somebody has booked service pitches and rather than faff simply collect water from tap and empty waste occasionally into pitch drain, and no doubt there were complaints on the pitches in the hard standing trials that somebody had booked the pitches.

You also see a fair few motor vans on them at all HS sites, like Chatsworth and Hawes. So it could be they really want them, or perhaps it is all that was available. Either way it's a win for the CAMC as they get an extra £3.90 a night. I can't imagine the costs of providing them as part of a major site refurb are that great.

I'm sure that the inability ATM to book HS is skewing the apparent desire for SP. The actual enthusiasm for them is probably more muted.

I can confirm the skewed bookings of certain pitches. We nearly always book an awning pitch, not to be able to put an awning up, but purely because there is likely to be more space.

It's not just sufficient hardstandings Wherenext it's making those hardstandings bookable.
Mom the rare occasion that we use a club site when grass is in use we book a SP. Even if there's only one grass pitch on site I'm not taking any chances.
I'd be happy if they reduced the price of grass pitches to what they are worth (I won't pay more than £15 for grass)

I would like the club to build new sites without the washblocks. It seems to me from reading this thread that many members would prefer hardstandings, that can be used all year, so perhaps a few grass pitches for dryer months. A choice of fully serviced or without EHU would be the icing on the cake. The club could provide this for well under £20 per night without the need for multi million pound washblocks and attendant services/servicing.
If the counter argument is that campers and Yurt dwellers need the facilities I would say we are a caravanning club and members should not be paying for this divergence.
Let’s keep the costs down, and our feet on the ground.
Sorry for the Rant.
