Our caravan cooker is dual fuel. It has one electric hob and 3 gas hobs but we never use the gas hobs, nor the gas oven because at £25 per cylinder, it is far too costly! So in addition to this we have a two hob with oven portable cooker which we use in the awning that runs on electric. Everything else runs on electric: fridge, Alde heating, hot water, kettle, toaster, microwave oven. Other people who may have older caravans with mostly gas appliances may be able to survive on 10 amps, however, for us, even 16 amps is not enough!
When we stayed at North Ledaig, we did manage by only using one appliance at a time and switching others off but it was inconvenient to do so and we wouldn't use that site again when there's another club site in Oban that does offer the club standard of 16 amps.

That's different, Yertiz. The EV, when we get it, will be plugged in overnight when other electric appliances are not needed because of being in bed asleep!

Oh dear, I'm feeling rather ancient and old fashioned.
In our caravan we "only" have a standard gas cooker (4 rings, gas and oven). We use this to boil the kettle, make toast, cook all our meals (hob and oven). No electric appliances cluttering up the more than ample workspace.

Exactly, EasyT. With £2500 a year saving on petrol, perhaps the occasional £25 cylinder of gas might become more affordable!

Well, Goldie, gas is a bit more versatile and controllable than electric so better for cooking than electric, IF you can afford it!

I suppose what we are all forgetting Malcolm that you use your caravan for living in 24/7, caravan sites are your main and only residence.
Have you thought about charcoal barbecues for summer cooking.
Sorry pointless question, you have paid for the electric.

It is hardly a major expense in the scheme of things Malcolm. We only use gas for cooking, everything else runs of the EHU, unless there is a power cut. Even using the oven frequently, our £25 worth of gas still lasts over a year. It will of couse also heat your van, thus allowing you to turn off the heating and charge the car. It might not always be at night you want to charge it, if you have used it in the day prior to going to work.

That's true! I can't exactly run the aircon on gas. However, in the summer, I'll be staying at Northbrook Farm club site, so I can use the aircon and use the Portslade dealer to top up the charge, free fast charge, free tea or coffee in their airconditioned service reception! We can take a packed lunch with us and have it there whilst the charging is taking place! How about that then?

Yes, she came with me yesterday evening and sat all evening in the Railway Inn pub just opposite where I work, she enjoyed the karaoke there. When I finished work, we were able to travel back together.
It's only Sunday evening Tesco Extra Shoreham is closed. Other days, I drop her off there before going to work, so she spends the time I'm at work doing the shopping.

Not necessarily, because I would probably go there on the way to work, so would only have about 6 miles to get to work from there.

She makes one small lemonade last all evening at a cost of £1.90. Not bad, for an evening out!

The gas rings use very little gas, so to not use them for cost reasons is just daft! Even the oven and grill do not use a lot.
With all things gas,it is a good idea to use them on gas occasionally, otherwise you may find that, when you do need to use them on gas, they will not work.
In your position, a refillable cylinder would be a good investment.
I have suggested before that having the Alde load monitor fitted would also be sensible, save a lot of manual switching off and on of things.
