Camera trap set......
We're on a CL with ponds, ducks and moorhens. This will be a challenge for the camera tonight. The camera is strapped to the trunk of a willow tree near the waters edge. I'll let you know in the morning if it catches anything........

ADD46,Hi,I tried that when at "Willow Cottage"with my 'Outback Cam',it does give VERY good resolution ,even over a long distance .Although i finished up using a traditional camera set up in the end ,to get more close up's.

Triky, we are at Willow Cottage.
You'll be pleased to know that the camera took 33 pictures.......of ONE duck in the dark! 😕 Very photogenic duck.
The only up side to the lack of camera trap activity is we sat watching a kingfisher for over an hour this morning catching his/her breakfast. 😊

Brue, it'll be interesting to hear what you find.
We're now back home. We placed the camera in a different position for the last night and caught a moorhen and lots of rabbits. (Or was it one rabbit that kept dancing in front of the camera.🤔)
Our next mission is to find out which neighbourhood Tom cat is spraying its territory up our garage door and front door.😡

What kind of cameras do you have? Is it wired in, or 'wireless'? We're interested in one but haven't really done any research on the subject........ just a vague feeling of 'How lovely would it be to have a night-vision camera'..................!!!

ValDa. Ours is called a Trail Wildlife Camera, battery operated, waterproof etc digital photos (colour in the daytime) with a memory card. It can be power operated too. It has mounting straps and a good instruction book. It came from ebay after a previous purchase proved to be useless! This one was on offer under £40, normally around £60.

Thanks Brue. I've had a quick look and there are hundreds of different Trail Wildlife Cameras at a huge variety of prices. Do you have a picture as I want to get one for OH's birthday? I probably won't find the exact same, but it will help to rule some of them out.

Brue, great pictures of the fox. I always love bringing the camera in after leaving it out overnight. Very exciting.
Valda - Our camera is an Ltl Acorn 6210MC. 12 Mega pixels game and trail camera. It's motion activated and records pictures or video. You can set it up to take as 1,2 or 3 pictures every so many seconds or minutes. It's battery operated so easy to set up anywhere with a small viewing screen to replay anything recorded. Day time pictures are in colour and very good. Night time pictures are taken in infrared and are therefore black and white. It's a "no glo" flash so it has no visible light to scare the wildlife off when it's activated. Prices online are around £144.

This is a very interesting thread for me as I love taking pics of wildlife.
Just looking at Ebay and there are so many to choose from.
Does anyone know what the best specs are to look out for please.

Most of the cameras under £70 are 12Mpixels but I have found this one that has 16Mpixels. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16MP-HD-Hunting-Trail-Camera-PIR-IR-LED-Motion-Activated-Security-Wildlife-Cam/202095815317?hash=item2f0dd96a95:g:-18AAOSw~rpZO9Oy
What do you think?

Thanks very much Brue. I'm very interested as we've wanted a camera like this for ages, but never been sure what would actually work, how much it would cost, and what spec to look for!! Oh's milestone birthday in May would be a really good opportunity to treat 'ourselves' (ie him!).
