Hi can anyone tell me why you are allowed 60 days either side of the warranty date to carry out the service with the exception of the third year when the service must be carried out before the due date

Can’t help you E, but from my point I will get my service done well before the warranty expiry date, just in case anything else is found wrong.

The reason is fairly simple when you think about it. The relevant aspects of the warranty run out at 3 years - not 30 days later

As per Easy T, warranty runs out at three years, the sixty days gives some flexibility to both owner and dealer.

Ahh I see so really it applies to things like the fridge, toilet etc which have a three year warranty but not the body which in my case has a six year warranty

Indeed Edmund. However with the way in which it is written it would be as well to meet the conditions even with regard to water ingress I suspect just to avoid any argument on that front.

I understand, from other fellow Lunar owners, that it could well be 'Tin Hat' time for the representatives manning the Lunar stand at the NEC in February...I for one am a little miffed at waiting just under 4 months now for a  simple 'Warranty Fix'. (warped sliding bathroom door, dealer ordered end of September)....Might just pop in myself and say 'Hello'..

You will also find that the water ingress warranty has a similar date system to allow problems to be corrected by the end date.

Has anyone with a Lunar with water ingress actually had their van repaired yet ? I ask because damp was found in ours at its second service and because of the reduced time to get the third done I'm seriously doubting it will be fixed before it needs servicing again, we have had no news on our fix as yet... !

Oh and on a Lunar specific forum there is some suggestion that with the long list it could even be a years wait surprised ! I hope not.

Firedragon--waiting for lunar to repair damp in floor of my delta RI. found beginning of December 60% round toilet/bathroom cupboard and bed. and upto 20% around rest of floor.  2 years old and £27000 caravan. crap build. I didn't pay that for our house. going to an NCC approved repairer to have bad bits cut out and replaced. told could be around March when it gets done but if any longer will get legal advice on how to proceed. it took a month before Cambells Caravans applied for the warranty repair with Lunar and they are across the road from the factory. another good service from lunar and dealers. NOT. where is this lunar forum you talk about. cheers.  by the way I sent e-mail to the NCC about this and not heard anything so they don't work for the general customer.

I had water ingress through front Windows of my Lunar clubman ck this was picked up in March last year and taken up with my dealer wandahomes South cave in June,  Lunar delays were outrageous, my caravan has Finally Gone In For Repair This Week So Currently Not A Happy Chappy.

I just hope after all this time at least the dealer comes good and makes a professional repair.

It Has Been Like Banging Head Against The Wall There Must Be Some Legal Address Against The Manufacturer Or Dealer??

Will Keep You Posted As To Wether The Repairs Were Done Correctly

I am currently waiting for my Lunar lexon, bought new in 2014, to have its delaminated floor rerpaired for the third time. Every year since new the floor has required repair. I asked Campbells to get Lunar to examine the van this time to see what was causing the problem, Lunar expressed no interest. The current repairs involve 18 hours of workshop time plus heaven knows what in materials so it must be the best part of £1000 to do this years repair. Sale of Good act and "fit for purpose"  will be referenced if anyone thinks that I will pay for this annual event once they decide that "the warranty has expired".

Hi, still no news on a call-in for our repair, I will look forward to your feedback smile The workshop did tell us 'don't hold your breath !'

I am on a couple of Lunar Owners pages on Facebook and the official Lunar Owners Club website too, there is not much joy on any of them but at least one of the Facebook ones actually found me someone who would take on the repair in the first place, I was tearing my hair out trying to get a workshop who would when our original dealer is no longer a Lunar dealer and didn't want to know !

Considering going to the NEC but it will only be dealers there not manufacturers so not sure yet if we will bother

    Totally fed up atm cry

It does make you wonder, how much is added to the price of a new van to cover all these warranty claims we are reading about on forums.

The manufacturer must have a very hefty margin, or they would go bust pretty quick at this rate.

A more robust design is required to accommodate a satisfactory build process.

The company I worked for for many years introduced a design for manufacture principle that required the design to allow for the assembly process, which if applied to caravan design would actually make caravans cheaper as there would be no need to factor in so much warranty work, therefore giving more profit to the manufacturer.

Everybody wins, and no production hold ups due to endless warranty work getting in the way.

Follow this principle up with a stock level of spares or a weekly run of parts that were known problems to cover for mishaps.

When build method and design provide a fit for purpose unit, the number of required spares would be reduced, and may be picked from production as needed. This would provide timely spares and only hold up new build by the time it took to make the next component.

Not beyond the reach of a dynamic customer focused company.

Ah Blu Malaga. You mention a dynamic customer focused company. Would that be Flying Pig plc?

From reading the numerous warranty issue threads on here over the years, I am coming to the conclusion that any warranty from any manufacturer is is pretty worthless and when making a purchase it should be discounted in one's assessment of value.

You could be right. It is complete Lunarcy to expect such a thing.

It wouldn't take a very intelligent company director to work out that more profit for less work and less hassle is the right way to go.

When I had a Lunar, the best dealer I found for servicing was Kenmore at Mirfield W Yorks. I bought my current Swift from Wandahome S Cave, I now have it serviced at  GW Caravan Services - cheaper and MUCH more proficient on servicing and paperwork

I too have a Lunar (2014 model) and my experience is that spares take between 4 and 6 months to be despatched. So far we have had 3 instances of water ingress and a number of other smaller faults.

I know it is a personal preference, but I love Lunar's design and styling, and I suspect that, statistically, that I am as likely to get a bad caravan from Bailey or Swift etc. as I am from Lunar. But what really irritates is how long it takes for spares to arrive.

Are the other manufacturers as bad at supplying spares?

Hearing all these complaints about Lunar caravans has given me a sense of belonging. For three years I have been battling Lunar and the quality of my caravan

we have had damp at 6months on offside,9 windows replaced, found paintwork fading to be told by dealer it was a previous factory repair before it was sent out to be sold,Floor now gone and leaking from roof and nearside now damp, rusting screws rusting locker handles fridge faulty, toilet faulty, edging strips coming off, side window twisted, missing lights and Co-detector and smoke alarm battery was a year out of date.

Yes I am most pleased with my caravan.....NOT
