Can anyone recommend any sites near Beamish that we ca stay at that also has static caravans for hire as we have friends who would like to come with us.

Thanks in advance

This site is right at the entrance to Beamish and has a mix of both.   We've not stayed here as we like CL's but it does seem good value.

Try Bobby Shafto Caravan Park DH9 0RY 01913701776 about 1 mile from Beamish don't know what its like though we live a few miles away and have passed it occasionally. Nice and quiet I would think

Rather than being "right at the entrance" the site, as Alan stated, is "about 1 mile away". (1.1 according to google maps.)

I arrange rallies for a small campervan club and I’ve been looking at Beamish for a couple of years. I discounted Bobby Shafto because of the reviews and a  friend’s opinion. I’ve booked Finchale Abbey site as an alternative. It’s a little further away but the reviews are better.

We stayed there for three nights last March and wouldn't recommend it. Power failures each night, prepaid shower meters that wouldn't work, muddy pitches, lots of seasonal pitches that have lights, furniture, statues etc. right up to the end of the pitch making it difficult to manoeuvre and then to top it all somebody came banging on the side of the caravan in the early hours and ran off ( when we complained next morning we were told it was probably kids playing and it wasn't an unusual occurrence). Beamish is well worth the visit but I'd steer clear of Bobby Shafto Caravan Park.
