Went to see All the Money in the World with Christopher Plummer, Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg.   The film is a true story based on the kidnap of John Paul Getty III in the 1970's.   It was a slow start but once it got going it was quite gripping in places in particular the amputation of his ear (known fact so not a spoiler).    I think there is some poetic licence in the film and doesn't truly reflect the true events especially towards the end but it was enjoyable and worth a watch.

    I've seen some trailers, it looks a good film.  - However, I will wait until I can watch it in the comfort of my own home as I find the rustling of food packets and the obligatory mass munching of food in cinemas detracts from the enjoyment of any film.

    The ear amputation sounds a bit off putting, munching popcorn or not...wink

    I love the cinema - we go most weeks, sometimes twice!   I can put up with most distractions but not phone screens/talking.

    I think I'll wait to see All the money in the World until we're at home, when I can move rooms if it becomes too uncomfortable.

    We're going to see 'Three Billboards outside Epping Missouri' with my son and his partner in London tomorrow, and next week we're going to see 'Lion' at our local Film Club.  This is a 'true' story based on the book 'A Long Way Home' about a boy who was separated from his brother in India, ended up being adopted by a couple, from Hobart, Australie, and years later got to know why his brother wasn't 'there for him' when they were supposed to meet up at the railway station where they were stealing coal.

    Three billboards for us this week along with the new Churchill film - both looking good

    Hope to see the Churchill film too, I like seeing things on the big screen and the trailers looked good.

    They certainly did the right thing by reshooting the scenes previously shot with that disgraced Spacey character.   I'm sure Mr Plummer will play the part perfectly. Well done !.

    My son apologised to me after the screening of Three Billoards...........', saying 'It was advertised as a black comedy,  didn't realise it was so 'black'.  It's a good story, of how 'rage' can affect a community, with lots of violent action. I hid my eyes a lot (hence the apology) but actually quite enjoyed having my 'comfort zone' expanded a bit.

    There is a certain degree of (possible) redemption in the story........... but it's not for the faint hearted.

    Am thinking of going to see Three Billboards tonight, although not sure about it "not being for the feint hearted " undecided
