Caravan history
Hi all,
Hope I can get some help or advice.
bought a van last November to find it structurally unsafe due to past water damage.
last chris reg is not the person who sold it to me and data protection won't allow them to give me that name.
all I want to do is try to find the past history of the van to determine if the seller new of the damp damage ( which clearly they did but won't admit ) or if they bought it cheap because of the damage??
any ideas, help or advice on how I might achieve this would be fantastic
thanks.

I was telephoned by the new owner of a Bailey that I had part exchanged to a dealer. The new owner had a major damp problem with the van and had failed to register their ownership with Bailey so were only covered by the dealers £1000 claim limit, leaving them over £4000 short. The van would still have been within the warranty period.
They had contacted Bailey who told them that my name was listed as the registered owner. Somehow they got my telephone number but I don’t know who gave it to them; Bailey, dealer,CRIS or some other source. As it happens I was able to tell them that the van had twice been back to the factory for damp repairs.
I know this doesn’t help you directly but it shows that it is possible to find previous owners contact details.

I think you are flogging a dead horse really as it was a private sale. The only option is to use the verbal descriptions given over the phone and issue a county court summons via the small claims court (can do on line) and see if they fancy giving evidence in a court room environment. It is a fairly friendly process and you get to just explain you position to the judge. They may though have little sympathy if you didn’t have it inspected!!
good luck
