Now that the festive season is over I've found time to do a review of our trips in 2017.

We spent 261 nights in our caravan, with 54 separate visits. These were at 46 CL, 5 of which we visited twice and 18 were new to us this year, 5 visits to commercial sites, 2 were new and 2 of which we visited twice, and 3 CC site all of which we'd used in the past. The best site for faclities, as far as we were concerned was Rosedale Caravan Park, and the best CLs for facilities & value were Woody Kiln and Pardon Hill, both newish ones. Our average cost per night was £12:30.

Anybody else have their own stats for 2017?

Well we had a bit of a curtailed year as MiL had a knee replaced wnich curtailed our going away for a while.

Nevertheless we managed exactly 100 nights away. These were mostly on CLs (9), Independent sites(2, one of which was twice) and 3 CMC sites.

I agree with you that Rosedale was great value for money and exemplary for such a small private site, although a few members wouldn't believe it existed.

We enjoyed all bar one of the CLs.

Didn't keep a check on prices but consider we obtained good value for our money.

nellie, im assuming that, of these 54 seperate visits, often a trip consisted of several visits?

otherwise, your average trip was around five days with a 'visit' every week....ie a pain to keep doing the mileage to come home (and assosiated unloading/storing/collecting/loading etc) and then take off again.

as it it, your figues read that you moght be flittting back and forth each week but i doubt thats true, a useful stat would be 'how many trips' and 'average duration'.

    good effort thoughsmile

I feel a bit of a lightweight, having only done 45 nights at an average of £13.16. If I add in trip to Spanish apartment and the recent cruise, I've totalled 71 nights on holiday. In my defence, I had to cancel one trip due to electrical issues and the changeover to the MH impinged on the figures. To be honest, it would still have only been in double figures though. As Corners would write on my homework " must do better".

One night on a Club site and about 35 nights in France and Italy. About average for us, however, we have also been to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Madeira this year (hotels) so have been away a lot.

2018 we will be cruising the Caribbean for two weeks then another trip to Australia but hope to spend about 5 weeks in France and Italy again with the Motorhome.

    BB it was 5/6 trips in total....ending one X-mas trip(2 1/2 wks) and starting another(4 wks), plus 4 others of approx 7 wks, 9 wks,  5 1/2  & 9 wks. So I guess it's an average of about 7 wks per trip.wink

Without the van for nearly 3 months whilst being repaired but still managed just over 100 nights away, 3 weeks Baltic/Holland, 3 weeks Wales, 3 Weeks Lakes and Scotland, 1 week Germany, lots of long weekends in East Anglia.  Our van diary shows where, when and number of nights but don't bother with costs

    2015 67 nights £794

    2016 61 nights £717

    2017 65 nights £886

Don't keep stats (life is too short wink)  of our holidays, but looking back we have spent approximately 50 nights away, give or take a few. Not a huge amount, work gets in the way, cry

Mix of club sites and cl's, have no idea of costs. laughing

We've had a total of 180 days away from home in 2017. A combination of 2 trips abroad, a week in a cottage in the lakes and trips away in our tourer or down in our static van in Cornwall. No idea of costs though - think it might be a bit scary to try to work them out! wink

You are an inspiration Nellie! laughing We had a shocking year last year, mainly due to my OH's serious illness, and losing my Dad, but we still managed around 6 different tours out, including just over two weeks in Wales. We had to cancel two tours we had booked in December, due to OH finishing the year back in hospital, but hopefully, this year we can do better. Still looking after Mum, but  if all else fails, I will book a cottage and take her with us! Happy touring to everyone!

Hope that OH's problems are over and you manage many more trips away in 2018.
