It's a pity things aren't Made in England anymore, like they used to be, brue. Can/tin openers for sale here in UK are all Made in China and none of them work.

In the winter a fair chunk of the £12 you are paying them will go on electricity. They probably rely on the warmer months to make it pay and you want to deprive them of that. If a site becomes uneconomic it will close. For them to subsidise your employment would be pointless. Perhaps it would be better for Pizza Hut to pay their drivers a realistic delivery fee.

No but since you mentioned China, I thought it was a relevant issue! Ironically, I had to go to Marks and Spencers in Wuhan, China to find a leather belt that was Made in England!

Maybe not but your comments about EVs are relevant seeing that you own and use one yourself. I hope the sceptics on here have listened to what you said as they keep expressing concerns and thinking that we should all continue to buy petrol and diesel vehicles!

Yes but don't you think it's a bit ironic that things made in England are sold in China whilst we here in UK are denied the opportunity of choice to buy them here in UK?

The smart EV are advertised or recommended for now as a city / urban car so until it can cope with rural driving, hills and mountains, enough battery power to cope with lights, wipers and heating at the same time then it's pointless buying one, and my Tesco Credit card will remain in my purse.

It's relevant to me, brue. Nothing frustrates me more than tin openers that don't work. OK, you may say that if it doesn't work take it back to the shop where you bought it but what use is that? They'll either offer to exchange it for another one that also doesn't work or offer you your money back. Either way, you'll end up not being able to open your tin of mushy peas!

Buy the good old fashioned metal ones that you can get at hardware shops instead of high street stores. Too many people think that modern gadgets and gizmos are better, but I have had my metal can opener for over 30 years. A lot of cans now have the pull thing, no opener required.

Yes and I'll be using it mainly as an urban car because it will be my business vehicle for delivering pizzas in urban areas i.e Lancing, Shoreham and Worthing. I have the Mitsubishi Shogun for long distance rural use that works on diesel!
Incidentally, the Smart car can also be used for shopping and visiting the town centre, as that is also city use and short distance!

I have to use my own vehicle to deliver Pizza Hut pizzas to their customers, Pizza Hut do not provide a vehicle for me so that is business use of my own car.

I do not think there has been one comment on here that has said NOT to buy an EV ,there have been quite a few questioning what seems to be the attitude that when owning an EV, every one else except the owner should pay in some way or other for the fuel to keep them going,
There has also been some advise as to the logic of why some would purchase an EV

So Malcolm, you are proposing to charge your business vehicle on club sites? Sixteen hours plus of business use charged to the club or a CL owner?
You are proposing to charge up at Gatwick later in the year and drive to work on the charge.

That's the beauty of them! You don't need to buy fuel anymore. They have a battery that provides the power that just needs charging every so often which can be done with no more power than any other domestic appliance. In such circumstances it would be as illogical to ask for extra money for this any more than it would be to ask for extra money everytime you put the kettle on electric!

That what you say but every one else in some way is paying for your fuel (electricity)and it no use keep trotting out about kettles as a kettle is a domestic appliance that uses as part of your pitch fee 3Kw for about 3 mins not 3Kw for hours on end, as well as other equipment that in your strange world can be utilised at other times
