The Highs and Lows.

The highs and lows..

Our final trip of 2017 was in December to one of our favourites sites, Broadway in the Cotswolds.  We have been here many times and it never disappoints. The site is fantastic and the beauty of Broadway itself is mind blowing. The wardens here are exceptional and very personable. One of the many positive points of this site is that the blocks are cleaned from 2:00pm when demand is the least - I do wonder why this can’t happen at other sites!

Having eaten at the Swan in the village which was excellent as always, we returned to our van for the evening. The following morning, we awoke to a winter scene with heavy snow having fallen in the night. The early adventurers ploughed a furrow through the snow and slowly negotiated the hill out of the site. Although booked for another night, the forecast suggested heavy snow in Broadway until midnight so having assessed the roads we decided to make a run for home. Gingerly, we crawled on the main roads and hoped we had made the right decision. The roads were poor, with two lanes down to one in most places and it was a journey I just kept hoping would end. Finally, and with some relief, we arrived home and I was relieved to unhook the van and lock everything down for the night. It had been a fantastic trip which had ended our caravan season with a warm feeling.

However, just days later, this warmth was shattered when we had some unwanted attention in our caravan from three men under the cover of darkness. It would seem they were only deterred from their ill intent by our security system. Although reviewing and refreshing our security, the event unnerved us for days thinking what could have been and also if they would return. The highs of broadway were (temporarily) forgotten.

This lul was, however, short lived as our spirits were once again lifted by our sons girlfriend who had literally spent hours making us our very own ginger bread caravan. Her gesture meant the world.

Thank you Steph for the lovely thought.

Just right for the story section, nice to see new posters on here. Thanks for sharing, the pics are very good, the Cotswolds in the snow look better from the inside of a van! Glad to hear your van survived two ordeals and the cake looked impressive too. smile
