Caravan Tyres
Have just taken delivery of a Bailey Unicorn 4 2018 model. The brochure and Bailey web state fitted with PREMIUM BRAND TYRES. The make on mine is 'SECURITY TYRES' which according to 'google' are a budget brand at 'Chinese prices'. Has anyone experience of these tyres. Having had 'budget' tyres fail spectacularly at 3 years old I am concerned.

While you might recognise a premium brand tyre when you see one. How on earth would you define it legally? Presumably the things fitted to your Bailey meet or claim to meet all the relevant regulations. You would go to court claim the Security tyres arent premium tyres. Bailey would produce an expert witness saying how brilliant they are. Premium tyres in this context marketing BS I am afraid.

My understanding would be that a premium tyre was used it would at least be a brand that I recognised? Otherwise I would want some explanation as to why they might be considered "premium" It might, of course, be a bit subjective as the tyres may well last 5/7 years before replacement. Does seem like a bit of marketing hype. You could contact Bailey and ask in which way do the tyres fit into the premium brand category.

Security Tyres .......part of a large Chinese tyre manufacturing group that have several brands , imported into Europe by a company in the Nederlands , some brands are known / sold in the UK .
Like a lot of Chinese tyres they are mainly sold & used in Asia / Australia /New Zealand & Far East on a vast number of vehicles including Trailers .
Personally I use Hankook tyres on our caravan but have used Chinese Jinyu tyres on a couple of tow cars including the present one & find them totally reliable over several years use .
Each to his own , but I wouldn't call Security Tyres a Premier brand not in the UK elsewhere is a different story .👍

Bailey started using Michelin Agilli tyres on their Unicorn range. I saw a newly delivered Unicorn at my local dealers last year shod with Bridgestone Duravis 630's. Both of these are top quality or 'premium' brands.
Security tyres are definitely in the budget category and should be rejected at your dealer. I suspect that the wrong tyres have been fitted on the assembly line. Security are standard fitment on Pegasus & Pursuit models which do not claim to be fitted with premium tyres.

I have just looked at the Bailey website on the Unicorn Cadiz page and I see they no longer specify 'premium' tyres. They are now shown as being fitted with Security tyres under the Safety and Security section.

I aways thought that premium tyre were those that you paid a premium for; so in that sense you got what you paid for.

I had to replace the tyres fitted to a 2013 Swift Challenger last year when I noticed cracks in the sidewalls of both tyres, these were cheap budget van tyres which after 4 years had deteriorated, they were replaced with a well known quality brand.
The price difference between budget and premium brands is around £100 for two, most customers I think would prefer to pay £100 more when purchasing a van and have quality tyres, after all there are safety implications when a van is over 3 years old if they are not replaced.
