Furthermore, even the neighbours at the house address know us because when we first started parking one of our cars there on the street outside the driveway, they suggested parking a little further down so as not to be too close to the junction, so I accordingly moved it to a position they were happy with.
I don't park on the driveway because the community nurses that visit my cousin everyday, use his driveway to park their own vehicles whilst attending, so it's necessary that we do not block access by leaving one of our own cars parked on the driveway.

We arrived at Baltic Wharf CMC site at 5 p.m. We were too late to check in at reception. There was a notice on the door saying closing time 4 p.m. I phoned the warden to apologise for my late arrival due to having missed the turning and having to re-direct for a second attempt! The warden said no problem and to look for the packet left outside reception with our gate key and pitch number on it and to check in between 9 and 10.30 in the morning.

The site is lovely! After pitching our caravan, we walked down to the gate at the bottom corner of the site and used the key to get on to the footpath by the waterway. There were houseboats moored along the bank and it was lovely to see the lights reflecting on the water.
Now it's just a question of waiting for reception to open in the morning so that we can check in and pay the £449 site fees for our 14 night stay, using my Tesco Clubcard credit card and thereby adding lots more lovely points towards my next statement!

As M says it is the location you are paying for. Plus of course it's popularity. Although it shows some vacancies over Christmas, I suspect these can be counted on one hand.
A bit cooler this morning, thermometer only shows 3.3C. Local veg shopping first, then across to the van to collect the Fiamma roll out, which we took off at the end of our trip to Chatsworth and put inside. We can then open it out in the garage to make sure it is fully dry before storing over winter. Also have to collect some wiper blades. Technology in the form of automatic wipers can be a problem. I forgot to cancel it in that hard frost, and when I started the car with ice over the sensor, the frozen blades were damaged.☹️
Then home to talk to BT in a pre arranged call. We have upgraded to infinity broadband and been getting some issues. I must say their customer service to date, trying to resolve it, has been excellent. An open reach engineer appeared within hours of my complaint. Another router was sent next day delivery. Hopefully we are getting there, although have still experienced a couple of drop outs in the last 24 hours.

Glad we did not actually want to go shopping in Tesco. Just wanted some screen wash, which they sold in the petrol station. The car park was heaving, with absolutely no spaces. As we left a long queue was building up on the approach road. How many weeks are the shops closed for 😉 Fortunately for us just the M&S order and local butcher to pick up tomorrow.

OH went out at 8am for his veg shopping expedition to Lidl, also said it was very busy, he's picking up an M&S order tomorrow. Trying to make things easier as we have family here and also travelling to see family and hoping to get my Mum out with us too.
Of course Mr Brue has over done it on the sprout front having put aside the six sprout rule...so we now have two large bags of sprouts plus a large sprout stick....

We have a couple of sprout trees in the garage. They have their ends in an inch or so of water, in a bucket. The sprouts seem to keep fresh for ages by doing this.

Malcolm, I am afraid it is a fair drive through Bristol to get to the nearest large Tesco. ASDA is nice and convenient though a short drive, or even reasonable walk. To walk, follow the harbour side to M shed, cut up through Gaol ferry steps and the foot bridge across the Cut. Then it is only a short distance on pavements along side the traffic. Also an M&S in Broadmead, which you can get fairly close to on the bus, that stops outside the site.

There's a Tesco Extra in Yate which is a massive supermarket that has everything, we've been there before when staying on another site near Chipping Sodbury. It's 13 miles from here and takes 45 minutes using the M32.
I got a nice Christmas message from Tesco credit card offering me a higher credit limit so I took up their offer giving me extra spending power for Christmas!

We can get the Shogun refuelled there as well plus a new handsfree car phone kit for the Shogun, as their phone shop there is very good.

The need for me to comment was so that people on here don't get strange ideas about fake addresses etc.

Just had a catch up on here - little new 😉. But good to see folks organised for their Christmas celebrations.
Milliehull I hope you managed the packing to your satisaction 😂 and that you got off as planned this morning. Wish Mr MH better.
Been suffering myself these last few days. Reflexology yesterday certainly made a difference. Tubes feel much clearer today.
We had the Hotpoint repair man here at 7am on Wednesday morning, they are only allocated 22 minutes per call out 😲😲. Our floor covering needed to be lifted to get cooker out. Good job OH had laid it and was about! New fan and element fitted appliance back in place, engineer gone by 0735. Not seen these hours for seveal weeks, only polite to let the sun get up first 😉. OH still trying to get the flooring back down, it's that slot in and click stuff, at noon. Had to take bits off of slots but it' back and not any sort of hazard thankfully.
I went to take the car to buy some heavy shopping before it got silly in supermarket car parks, plenty of battery no start. Didn' know how to break news to OH 😮 as he was still grappling with the flooring. Of course he had to check I knew what I was talking about 😤😭. I walked to the shop and bought would I could carry. He'd finished the floor so we had lunch before sorting the car. 'Our chaps' were working single handed but could send over a lift to get it there and sort if necessary. We have breakdown cover with the bank, same company we have used for years, checked cover and it included home start. Someone out in just over an hour. Tapped the fuel line and jump started it. Took it for a run and got Halfords to check the battery. Very healthy battery like new so who knows??? Took it out yesterday all good and that included needing heater and lights. Started again today so hopefully, fingers crossed. What it will be like when we return in March who knows? We'll deal with that then.
Walked into town for banking and fresh veg from a very good market stall. Now indoors in the knowledge we probably have far too much for next 6 days but son will get any fresh stuff when he leaves to use at home. I grew up in the sticks so a good store cupboard mentality hasn't left me but OH a real townie is always concerned we'll run out 😂😂.
Town much busier than of late and a bit of an atmosphere.
This time next week we should have reached Auckland 😆. I'll probably pack my hand luggage tomorrow or Sunday as we move our NZ packing from son's bed to single bed. Too early to do the main packing that'll wait until 27th, when the decs will be down and back in the loft.
Enjoy your day folks.
Footnotes i still haven't paid any money for cooker repair but have 6 months guarantee on repair and any appliance, including a replacement if it's unrepaiable. Bizarre I think. But did have phone call from the company offering the guarantee to ask how repair went and would I like to take out additional cover for other appliances with a discount?

Good luck using the M32 this week Malcolm. I think your 45 minutes is a bit optimistic to say the least. I'll be going in via that road to watch Rovers tomorrow and I'm allowing an extra hour just for the drive in after leaving the M4! (It'll be an extra long stint in the pub before the match, so not entirely wasted time!
