I apologise if you get alot of questions on this subject.  I have just purchased a project van as our first family van but it has the original tyres on (2003!) so I need to get them changed.

Could anyone recommend the best place to get them done?  I would like a mobile company if preferable but it seems everyone that I ring is too busy to come out.

Help!

Hi HW - we used etyres last year. Ordered on line, they turned up exactly on time, fitted new tyres, checked pressures and torqued wheel nuts,  all done in about half an hour. Can recommend them. smile

Quick fit do a mobile tyre fitting service, but in the past just taken them to National tyres and we choose one where you can drive on and off the forecourt without unhitching and/or turning around if you see what I mean and they come out to the van to change the tyres.

Of you can block the van up securely and just take the wheels to a tyre depot of your choice.

For my cars, caravans and motorhome I have use E-Tyres several times and always found them very good. They have a good section on their website about caravan tyres which is worth a look. They usually also have a good range of tyres available.

We always buy on line these days, have used Black Circles and Luv Tyres recently.  We then get them fitted locally.

Last time, for the caravan, we had them delivered directly to our dealer and they had them fitted at the service.

Our son in law recently used the Kwik Fit mobile service for his car and found  them OK and fairly competitive.

I use my local tyre fitter. Give him an Interweb price & he'll match it.

For caravan tyres I have used a firm called 'Tyres on the Drive'. All done on an appointment basis and quite literally fitted on my drive in about 30 mins. All balanced up and torqued wheel nuts!

As your purchase is a "project", you will i expect, be taking the wheels off to give the brakes a service, so I suggest you put the van on stands under the axle tube,Do Not use the chassis!!,take the wheels to a tyre dealer to have new tyre fitted and have them balanced at the same time!! when refitting ensure you torque them up, and on first trip out re do after about 20miles if possible or fit some tell tales to the bolts and check they have not moved
