It is possible to get a charging point fitted at your house, Tammygirl and there's a government subsidy for that too. The salesman will advise you when you buy.

It can be charged through normal domestic supply, it just takes longer, 6 hours from empty as opposed to fast charge 2 hours from empty.

I don't think JVB66 was referring to your car Malcolm, he was talking about Brue's.

    Keep up! wink

Yes I understand now. A different higher powered car would have a different electric power need.

I think it's because they don't approve of this kind of lifestyle, WaytoGo. They think that everyone should live in a house and just use a caravan occasionally for a weekend or holiday. They don't believe in a lifestyle that means freedom of the road. It conjures up images in their mind of the travelling community that park their outfits for free and occupy land without the owners permission.

I can't live that way. I would feel bored and lonely in a house and would miss the buzz of seeing other people around me. Furthermore, the saving in cost of not having to pay a mortgage or rent is a financial benefit to me in that I can keep more of what I earn. In other words I get a higher disposable income by doing what I am doing.

If others prefer to live in a house and pay household bills, including costs of decoration, maintenance of property, mortgage, rent, council tax etc., cost of new kitchens, bathrooms, carpets etc. Good luck to them. I prefer not to be saddled with such hefty costs and get financially crippled by it. The very thought of it horrifies me!

Rest assured David although the cost was relatively high we didn't pay the list price, we bought a demonstrator so BMW have taken a certain amount of loss and of course part x was involved and no government grant. Other than that, just for once we splashed out a bit as a treat for ourselves. We do a lot of mileage at present so our outgoings have reduced even though we forked out from our savings to do the deal, a rare spend for us. We also wanted to have some money back if we made a mistake. We have yet to press the button in the roof where BMW will come to our rescue, I am impressed by the technology. smile

edit  I have tried to provide some info on the actual running costs etc in the thread started by Cariadon, no more car talk from me on here.

My wife would love to share my work of pizza deliveries with me but Pizza Hut won't allow her too. Their employers liability insurance only covers staff on their payroll.

I think if you read tammys post you will understand the problem, which is nationwide a EV charging point on your property is fine, the problem arises as with thousand of properties is getting the vehicle near enough and we amongst the majority of houses where we are, unable to

Another miserable damp day, not quite raining but giving a good imitation of it.

At last the house is looking a bit more Christmassy. Last night we hung green swags and dangly things on the beams in the kitchen. The room we call the "kitchen" is not your normal run of the mill room full of units and white goods. It's where the Aga is, so is where we cook. (The sink, fridge and cupboards are in the pantry). We mostly live in the kitchen - as apart from the Aga most people would call it the sitting room etc.

It's the oldest room in the house (16th Century) so people have lived in it for a long time.

OH informed me about the required number of sprouts last night, must have heard the same news. I will be sending him out for some last minute sprout shopping tomorrow. He can count them if he feels the need but I always like a few spare ones as no doubt there will be someone who wants seven. wink
