Hi

This is my first post and I'm not quite sure of the etiquette of what to ask, but were thinking of going away for New Year in our van, has anyone done this and if so do you have any recommendations of what to look for, we don't mind a CL site but as its New Year we were thinking somewhere that has a bit more of an atmosphere, we live in Kent, so if anyone could point us in the right direction I would really appreciate it - thanks smile

    Hi, Priscilla, and welcome.

I suspect it might be a bit late now to get a site for NY but someone may come along with a few ideas.

Sorry I can't help you a great deal but we always head South of Kent for NYE.

France - and this year it's probably going to be a journey through Northern France for a week or so and a NYE meal looking out over the Harbour at Honfleur.

    Simple pleasures.

    Best of luck finding somewhere.

Surely somewhere in the UK there will be a gathering of caravans over new year, with perhaps a dance in the village hall, and some fresh air head clearing activits on the 1st?

    . . . . or am I 50 years too late?

Or to translate as those north of the border need an extra day to recover cool

Check if your local, or a nearby "centre' has any NYE rallies on, that may well be being held at a Village Hall, or farm barn etc.

Depends how far you want to travel, but if distance is not a big factor, Ross Park at Ipplepen in Devon do a special festive package. But it's a popular place so not sure if there are spaces left. Might be worth giving them a ring. smile

If you can hang on till the last minute you might get a cancellation. Try ringing a site and letting them know you are hoping for a break. Good luck. smile

We're booked in to Chapel Lane Wythall again for this New Year  - a few metres off the M42.

We were there last New Year and  I have to say there weren't many of us on site - might be worth a try !

Wardens put on a litte drinky poos and snackeries- lovely!

    Hi Priscilla,

if you were nearer I would say come to the pub in the village here - not cheap, but there will be big log fires, a feast, a live band, and the locals do tend to sing late at night.  Have you got not somewhere like that within taxi range of where you live?

I know it's popular but New Year's Eve on most caravan sites sounds pretty desperate to me - warm wine with the warden really doesn't appeal. My caravan will stay tucked up and dry in its shed.

    Happy New Year to you.
