Stonehaven is one of our favourite Scottish sites, it's close enough to arrive by 12.00 without leaving early doors.
A walk along the sea front is always a must for us, summer and winter alike. Fish and chips bought on the way back then into the van to eat them Mmmm!
Short walk to the bus stop, regular buses to Aberdeen.
If you have transport then a visit to Dunnottar castle is another must.

Lovely site with beautiful walks along the beachfront. What I would not miss if I returned would be a visit again to the very old sweet shop in the town. It had some really old traditional sweets and some of the best Italian soft nougat I have ever tasted. The staff were really engaging & helpful to us visitors. We also enjoyed fish & chips from a shop on the seafront quite close to the site which was reputedly voted the best in Scotland and next door was the most fantastic ice cream parlour. Regards, Roy

Have been there in August, really enjoyed seeing Stonehaven, nice town and the boardwalk to the harbour is an added bonus. I expect if we lived nearer it would be a good site to visit late in the year.

Bit far for a weekend away for you, H&T.

There is also the open air pool next to the site for the summer months, very popular. There is also an indoor pool next door too and great play park for the kids. The harbour area along the boardwalk from the site has some good eateries. Plenty of shopping facilities in town, with a couple of pubs. The town is only about a ten minute walk from the site. The Infamous Deep Fried Mars Bar was first created at The Carron Fish Bar. Highly recommended. ( the site, not the mars bars.....well maybe a wee bite to try it 😉)

I have heard good things about this site.
As a result of this, I have booked to go there during 2018. Looking forward to it!0 -
Great site with easy walk into town and has always had excellent wardens. We, unfortunately, feel the chippy on the front has gone downhill the last couple of years which is good for the waistline 😂

Would agree with you on the fish and chips, lovely big portions certainly was enough for the 2 of us to share.
To late for this year now but the town has a good bonfire night and fireworks display, easy 10 minute walk from the site worth a visit that weekend if you are in the area.
