Good thinking! Exposure of their poor service and quality on Facebook or Squitter should make them take notice in order to improve their flagging order books.

" I have to say that I question the wisdom of those who are prepared to take a chance of an untested dealer 200 + miles away just because they offer a saving of a few hundred pounds. Better to build a relationship with a local dealer, all other things being equal "

The reason I travelled 200 mls is because the dealer concerned was the only ( of a few ) Hymer dealers that had the model I wanted. The price I paid was " Book " price, this was of no concern to me.

Had my prefered dealer ( Elite Caravans, Blisworth ) been a Hymer dealer and able to purchase one he would have gotten my hard earned.

It is with this company I will have future Service and repair works done.

    Happy caravanning.

I would say before naming and shaming on twitter or Facebook or here. Is think very carefully before doing it then don’t do it.   It’s a negotiation and if you want to win, you need to give the other side the opportunity to backdown without loosing face.  This isn’t going to happen if you have just humiliated them on social media.  Of course once you have won, you can do what you want.  But you need to understand the difference between venting and winning.

As for traveling we bought our caravan 120 miles away simply because it was what we wanted.  If we had wanted a Bailey we could have travelled 15 Miles, but we went into it with our eyes open.

Uestion for Mr Indoors are Hymer happy to let any NCC workshop do the damp checks?

Quite agree.  My Facebook/Squitter comment was tongue in cheek.

(I must stop trying to be ironic).

When asking the supplying dealer ( unnamed ) about further works and service it was noted, the original HYMER stickers provided by Hymer dealers ( and paid for by the client ) are no longer used and any NCC insurance rated workshop can do this. Meantime I am happy with Lowdhams doing my work whist under warranty, as soon as this is up it will be going to Elite Caravans.

    Happy caravanning.

No wonder it was 220 Miles, you took a wrong turning.  Same place only 120miles North East for us I feel a bit of a lightweight.

You have pretty well summed up my week.  Got there on Thursday because I had to spend a day 150 miles away in Slough, snowed in on Sunday.  Not sure the solar panels were working, and the picture doesn’t show the pub we had to drive past to get into the field, it would have been rude not to!

with regards to the nameless dealer who’s location you have described to a T low points were when they tried to charge me for 2 gaslow hoses, when they had actually fitted two standard hoses different lengths each more than a year old and not being able to clean up the threads on the Alko wheel lock receiver   Cost me £3 to post the tap that Alko will loan you if you ask them nicely
