The two Hibrids that were on site at Ferry Meadows earlier this year, were both connected when not being used, to the outside sockets of the adjacent c/vans when ever i went past on route to the loos(which at my age was not infrequent),and speaking to them they both said they had to be carefull and remember not to use to much in the c/van,I do not know What they do when heating was needed, but neither thought there was a need to advise any one what they were doing

In November 2018 we'll be moving to our seasonal pitch in Gatwick. With the existing Smart car I will have the cost in petrol of the 30 mile each way commute to work. 60 miles commute per work day plus fuel use for deliveries.
You'll have to hope it doesn't rain and the days are long!

Oh I don't know......I quite like the odd fairy story, especially ones with a South East mindset.
Malc, just up sticks and move North. Life is a lot cheaper, a lot less hassle, and we still eat pizzas! Mind you, you might need to keep the 4x4, the hills are a tad more challenging!

Have been writing Christmas cards this morning, yes I know I'am a bit late thought I'd see what everyone was up to on here, mind boggling.
Had to ring doctors for an appointment, earliest January 8th!! Good job it wasn't urgent.
Sun shining, but wind very cold, pegged some washing out not sure it will dry but it's at least it getting a blow in the fresh air. Busy weekend ahead got to fit a trip to caravan too as need to bring home the stuff I left in it after trip away, didn't have time to get everything when we got back.

Bright but very cold start ,black ice on some footpaths when out with Rosa still large areas of ice and snow where sun does not reach this time of year also there are still piles of ex snowmen every where also numerous wrecked and abandoned sledges , care still needed when walking across open ground, but hey we are going to have a "heatwave?" on Sunday?

Are you sure you have taken everything into account?
It looks to me, on the figures you gave, more like.....
New car .........................£17060
+ old PCP to pay off.......£9817.38 (?)
= total............................£ 26877 .38
less trade in......................£6000
= total due ......................£20877.38
Do you not need to also find a deposit for the new car as well as paying the difference between what you are still due on the existing PCP minus your £6000 trade in?

The new car is over £21000 but the government offers £4500 towards it which reduces the price to £17060. The trade in of £6000 leaves just £3817.38 deposit for me to pay, the rest is on finance.

So where does the £700+ that you've just paid for tyres and suspension repair come in your calculations? Black hole comes to mind?
It's your business really, but I wouldn't want to be saddled with that amount of debt at your age, especially when you have a limited income.
Of course you may have won the lottery, who knows?

I think its all a wind up as usual. On one hand the food is bought cheap as its going out of date, he is always claiming he struggles to exist yet he can afford to throw money money away like a man with no arms.
Malcolm the figures don't add up, if your commute from Gatwick is going to be 60 miles and you only have a 90 mile charge. That is giving the maximum as you've already said with heater, windscreen wipers, raidio etc on you will be running out of charge, how are you going to do the job. On top of that you seem to have no idea how to drive or look after a car properly you may as well just sit and burn money. The garages and car sales people must love a visit from you.

Bright and sunny day today.
Gas delivery arrived this morning although told yesterday it would be middle of next week, strange how things change when you go onto their faceache page and leave a comment
More decorating today, also visit to big sis as its her birthday today.
OH now decided he fancies a new TV, nothing wrong with the one we have. New one would be bigger of course which means a new unit for it to sit on, trying to ignore him and hope he will go away he is always like this before Christmas sends me round the bend.
Still lots of things to do before Christmas but at least the cards are now done. Oven needs to be cleaned not sure if I will get it at this rate.
Not panicking just yet but if you could see the mess the house is in at this moment I should be. Oh well that's my cuppa done time to give the skirting boards the gloss coat. No rest for the wicked.

TG the Smart battery is relatively small so you are right, the charge won't last the distance, especially if it is used for further mileage on the same day. It has regenerative braking but this won't make up the difference. Smart EVs are great for city dwellers making short journeys.
No point in saying any more.

Looks like a chilly night tonight and the count down to Christmas is under way, which means an excited younger grandson has a sleep over here soon and no doubt the visiting dog will make an appearance! OH is really suffering with man-flu, prone on the sofa, watching TV.

Brue, I read recently that some medical centre had conducted tests and they reckon Man-Flu actually exists! I'll not go into the how's and whyfores but the thesis was written by a man.
Best of luck to OH and obviously yourself as you are likely to be suffering as well, only in a different way.

No worries 60 mile commte doesn't start for another 11 months. Battery will be well worn in by then 😉. Winter commute so dark out and back, so defo lights. If as cold as it is now this time next year heater too, bit of spray or rain wipers too. Defo no radio possibly no deliveries 😉.
Don't think it's been thought through, but as trade in car only just a year old it may well be gone before being put to the test!
I know I'm talking to myself but I have to question the actual unallocated income from delivery work. I reckon it's a negative. No job no need for additional vehicle. It seems IMHO wages justify earning requirement but actually if not an operating, loss not far short.
Never been interested in selling as a job but if I had this sort of opportunity crops up often 😉😉😉
On reflection I'm sure there has been a decent win on something be that lottery or horses. It's the only way it makes any sense IMHO.

I have heard that the man flu is definitely not a phenomenon as well. Apparently the male of the species does suffer more - reported this morning on The Today programme radio 4 so it must be right 😉.
Wish him better brue and patience for you. Good job it's not a busy time of year!

Hope Mr Brue feels better soon.

If anyone is interested there are two charging points in the car park at Kirkby Lonsdale. I frequently go past, but have never seen them in use. Maybe because it’s a long way to the next one? But I know nothing about these new fangled vehicles - we’re sticking with trusty Landrovers.

I've tried to put informative posts about our EV on other threads on CT and I'm always willing to give out more information if needed. I hope no-one has been put off. To use an EV requires quite a bit of thought and planning, not something to rush into and certainly not suitable for all users just yet. The type of EV we've bought does allow for easy long and short distance travel.
