EasyT I hope you are feeling better and can slowly put the last bits into your new caravan. The cold weather and being poorly only aggravate arthritis. Have a great time and enjoy your new purchase.
Woken to beautiful sun all snow gone now, including the reluctant pockets in the garden, just the sad remains of the very large snowman built on open space at the back of our garden. Can't say I'm sorry I must be getting old 😉. Lovely to look at and great if you've got youngsters but a day or 2 is sufficient as far as I'm concerned these days.
I see northern Europe had disruptions following their snow too, so it wasn't just UK. but then it takes a while to get things sorted after such heavy falls however well forecasted.
Off to have lunch with friend later, a few chores to finish beforehand. Enjoy your day folks.

It's not just the tyres. They found that one of the suspension springs were bent and needed replacing which has added another £500 to the bill. That's being done today, no courtesy car available so spending the whole day at service reception!
We visited the sales department this morning to look into changing for an electric car but the deal they are offering doesn't look worthwhile as they were knocking £6000 off our car for depreciation! It would be a huge saving in fuel costs though but not enough to compensate for other losses.

Bit by bit it’s getting Christmassy here. The four front bedrooms now have trees in the windows - thanks to OH persevering with the lights (l am sure they worked when we put them away).
And this morning he went to collect two large real trees- for the hall and sitting room. We’ll try to get at least the lights on tonight, then the decorations tomorrow (I hope).
And I’ve been accused of ordering too much drink! An Asda delivery came this morning, mainly beer and “posh” soft drinks.

They sent a video to my mobile phone showing where the suspension spring had bent and said going over a pothole could have done it. They said that was what caused the extra wear on the tyres because of not being straight there was more wear on one side of the tyre.

No because it's accidental damage and not due to faulty manufacture.

We walked into Portslade town centre and got some lunch from the Tesco Metro there. Two hot Cornish pasties for £1.25 each. The service reception has also been supplying us with tea and biscuits, cups of coffee and fruit juices throughout the day. Still another two hours to wait.

I don't suppose you know where and when that happened?
This happened to our son about 16 years back and he claimed the repair bill off the council by having returned to the spot and taken a photo of the very large hole and complaining to them.
His car was so badly damaged it was unsafe to drive, the dealer said either to claim on his insurance or go down the council route as the bill was over £1500
It was fine after repair.

I don't think it was a pothole. I think it happened at the time when the tyre got punctured. Iwas driving in thick fog and hit the kerb rather hard.

I would add that them saying you have hit a pothole is only to be expected. They are unlikely to suggest a manufacturing fault as a first possibility.
With the state of the roads these days it is impossible to avoid every pothole so we too have been in a few , but as far as we know no damage has been sustained.
If the hole was big enough to do such damage you would certainly have felt it.
Edit.....yes I was just thinking about the time you had that burst tyre......and whether there was a connection.

The problem with PCP finance is you need to keep the car in good condition, the value of second hand cars has dropped and new cars are costing more. I presume bumping up and down a semi rural lane to a CL doesn't help and the small tyres will wear out more quickly.

There are times when I wonder if we would be better off if the Infernal Confusion Engine had never been invented ! Though I suppose we would still be at the mercy of the Vet & Blacksmith/farriers and I guess the bottom could drop out of the waggon market !

The Sun was lying!
(What else do you expect?)Beautiful looking out of the window but a cold wind blowing across the North Norfolk marshes. Still, there was a pub halfway around the walk, and we all enjoyed a smashing lunch of Brancaster Mussels in a Cider, Mustard and Leek sauce. Yum. Had a delicious GF Christmas Pudding with brandy custard for dessert. Didn't need any incohol with that lot!

David I believe BT give you 60 days, agree the plusnet email address is a bit long, have got my head round it now. OH had a bit of trouble linking his android phone to receive email notifications but with a bit of help from their call line all sorted now.

I think Malcolm said he was on interest free finance, which is possibly different from a PCP , but of course the depreciation over the first year is always the worst anyway. Not sensible to contemplate swapping cars after such a short time,

Back home from Portsmouth and having the "Concorde" Alde heating fixed drained down and refilled with 5 year pink..It also transpired that when the shower drain off hose split and deluged the Alde unit ,it also overloaded the main fuse board and burnt out part of the circuit !!.SO,,new fuse board too !!
.It's been all spend this month,ho hum ,,,no good if things don't work !!

The builders finally finished the driveway extension this afternoon. I now need to wash off the MH as it's covered in dust from the cutting of the blocks.

Phew! long day again decorating now half done
Its been snowing on and off most of the day today but not adding to what we have as its thawing at the same time and the roads and pavements have been well salted/gritted.
Must sit and write Christmas cards tonight for posting over the weekend. Eldest son driving up from Tidworth tomorrow to pick up his daughter as her school holidays start then, he will stay overnight then go back down the road on Saturday (poor soul) hope the roads are kind to him.
Need to wrap up some presents I have for the children (don't do adults) so he can take them down with him. Looks like I will be burning the midnight oil tonight.

We're moving the parents in law this weekend. After 18 months of trying they've been offered a bungalow 5 mins from our house by the housing association. Pick up the van tomorrow and then start in the afternoon. Dad hasn't left his current house at all for over 10 years so he's not looking forward to the move. They live over an hours drive away from us now so it has to be done though. We'll get it all sorted with the tree up by Sunday afternoon, he'll not realise he's been out.......hopefully. 😊

Good luck Hallsontour hopefully a decent weekend to move them and get them settled in - unlike the last one! I hope you dad in law accepts it. It's very difficult as parents age and there's a distance. Hopefully things will get easier.

It was a PCP with 0% interest. If we change, the old PCP will get paid off and the new PCP will have 3.9% interest. The advantage is the saving on fuel. We can simply plug it into our caravan overnight to charge the battery thereby saving £45 a week on petrol. There are other advantages such as satnav and reversing camera that our present car doesn't have. However, the new finance would cost £293.89 per month. Our present monthly payment is £191 so £102 more per month. Total cost of the car after the government discount of £4500 is £17060. They will let us have £6000 for our present car in part exchange so we lose £6000 depreciation if we decide to change. The saving of nearly £200 a month on fuel will effectively mean being better off by £100 per month after paying the additional monthly cost of the new finance agreement which is also a PCP.

The salesman told us that we can plug into a normal 13 amp household socket but the charge may be slower. However, it will be enough charge on an overnight charge of 8 hours. We get two adaptors, one for a normal socket and another one for a fast charge socket. We were told we can use the fast charge in the car showroom and car service car park for free.
