Dear Caravan & Motorhome Club,

I know there is a few people my husband and I who love this site. We love it because its 40 mins from home and you feel far enough away. We have been going to this site now coming into our 5th year and we have always been made to feel real welcome at this site. I adored the previous full time wardens and adore the current wardens along with the assistant wardens. I have been really disappointed to see all the negative comments made about this site as I dont believe they have been very fair to the site and the wardens.

We have always made the most of whats on this site and yes the water pressure might not be great but thats not the wardens fault. Many people who have been coming to this site for many years and people like us we will be sorry if this site is to close as this is really one of scotlans great sites and will be big loss to the club, the council and all the shops and restaurants as people who come here make the most of what is round about them. I am asking the club to fight for this site as it will be a great loss and as I am lead to believe the club was there before the uni was so make the uni relocate elsewhere.

The kind of reception I have had this year has been the most welcoming and caring as the wardens have been aware I havent kept in very good health this year. They know our names remember our faces and always ask how I am doing. You always get a great welcome wether new to the site or old faces. i was saddened to hear from friends who stay in Ayr that heard the site could be closing. I am asking all of you if you have ever been to Ayr Crigie Gardens please can you write to the club to get support to keep this site and who knows it coud get works done. So please dont be negative about things like that get behind the site and keep it going.

Moderator Comment - As this is about a current issue rather than a Story I have moved it to the UK Sites and Touring section in the Discussion area. The OP might also consider writing a review of this site.

Scottishcouple. Why not put some of this information on the UK Touring section in the main CT pages. It will get more attention and others will be able to read about a possible closure and perhaps the club might be able to make a general comment for all to see. Best wishes for your health, hope you can continue to enjoy your visits to the Ayr site.

Been to the Ayr site a couple of times over the years, it's a local site to us ( under an hour journey time.)  Ayr is an interesting urban site with a nice walk into Ayr town. Good base for touring Burns country. Handy for the Ayr flower Show.  The Ayr race course is a few minutes walk from the site for those who like horse racing.

If the site is closing don't worry, there is a good C&CC site at Culzean Castle just down the road, with loads of walking and cycling within the grounds  and a couple of Cl's / Cs/s in the area.

We like Ayr Craigie too. It is only a 40 minute drive from home so we visit for weekends normally 6 or more times per year. It would be a shame if it closed we also use the Ranch AS site in Maybole which is also a great site but there is more to do at Craigie.

I like Ayr too.  Would be a great shame to lose it from the network.  Has it been confirmed or still a rumour?

Have to say over the last couple of seasons it has lost its polish, I know when the last long term warden visited she was upset with what she saw.  I also know other wardens who have visited and seen a decline.  A real shame.  Wouldn't take much to get it back on top form.

A standard Club site but in an excellent location. We were able to get into Ayr on foot and other places locally on foot, bike & bus so this was very important to us as motorhomers. Location for the likes of us is paramount if we want to visit things in the area & given that I believe the Club membership is expanding rapidly with regards to motorhomers we should be trying to keep & expand such sites on the network, not loose them. Those with easy transport can then also take advantage of the locations and get about in a more healthy way. The Club I feel lets us down in this regard as there is hardly ever any detailed information for those without a car when researching the Club's information on their sites. Regards, Roy
