Weekend one-nighters

Already have...Site in Provence, one at Argeles-sur-Mer, and one site near Biarritz …. plus outbound ferry, all requiring a deposit…oh yes, and a CaMC affiliated site not yet booked but does require a deposit at time of booking..
Not only do you like paying deposits you also like to book. As you are retired and presumably are able to go outside peak times, why do you feel the need to book at all?

Because it suits him to do that probably.

Grant 705...Generally i don't, except for any preferred 'honeypot sites' in the UK...I use ACSI extensively when in Europe but 2018 is a one off in terms booking in advance..in that we are meeting up with family and friends at each of the said locations. In view of the number of pitches requested and to guarantee being sited next to each other the site asked for a deposit.
It's not a question of whether i like to pay a deposit....I appreciate it is a sound commercial decision and i don't have an issue with that.

You don't need to explain yourself, GTP. It’s your business, no one else's.

That's quite reasonable in terms of cottage deposits. If you book via an agency it's often a lot more, and it's not unusual to have to pay a damage deposit as well, which will only be returned after your holiday is complete, and the cottage has been checked for any damage or theft. Not all owners demand this, but it is quite standard. Not something we have ever got uptight about, even when taking our dogs with us. Never failed to have a deposit returned!

You may as well give up this argument the CAMC is effectively a business or at least operates as one and presumably finds the current system maximises bookings.
One site that we have used frequently in the past is Crystal Palace often the web site shows full but there are have nearly always been pitches free.
The answer is to make club members consider more carefully by using a deposit scheme but then refer back to paragraph one.

Quite agree,
too much hype indeed about those pesky one-nighters, pesky block bookers, and those pesky selfish members who got booked up first...
A load of pesky nonsense if you ask me..
