You may have to increased the magnification of your screen to see the photo, but this is the advert which appeared on Facebook on Black Friday - but doesn't seem to reflect the normal image of Caravan Club members............ nor do the outfits shown appear to be sticking to 'the rules'.

I have seen that photo on fb, sadly I get lots of the club posts on my fb page. My reaction to all photos is as yours - they don' seem to be pitched as per the rules or in one case there is a caravan car and family actually on a beach and water, sea or river visible! And the car top tent issue has been discussed on CT.

Maybe there should be a disclaimer in place? In the same way as those games for Xbox or similar where it says not actual game footage. I'm never likely to purchase a game but the adverts never show actual footage so how would I know what to expect? It appears the club allow their advertisers poetic licence too without a disclaimer 😲 imagine joning on the basis of this image and finding yourself on a complete hardstanding site, say Baltic Wharf and I like the site, all vans parked to the peg in lines 😂. Not quite what' portrayed in the ad is it?

This image just popped up on my fb page so I checked out the comments. Someone who has joined hasn't received free night voucher. Staff reply "they'll be coming out in 6-8 weeks, watch your letter box."

If you make an offer and I join on basis of getting a free night I'd expect it to come with my welcome pack and if it wasn't included in there a minimum of a note to the effect that it will follow on in x days or weeks. Do I set the bar too high for customer service? I would have been on the telephone enquiring about its absence upon receipt. Waste of my time and cost of a call not to mention staff resources...............

There is a prominent advert for the comp on FB (I access it to view via OH) but no advert on here, perhaps could have gone on the right of this page with others.

I'd go along with the idea of turning off all the lamp posts and bollard lights so we can see the stars again as in days of old.

Is that not why the caravan makers provide huge roof lights anyway?

Once again a suggested page on my fb appeared, so out of interest I clicked on Club page.

Question, who would you like to pitch beside? Copied and pasted from fb site

Who do you want by your side on your next adventure? Add a comment and tag the friend you’d love to pitch up next to. Recommend a friend to join the Club and they will receive a Site Night Voucher when they sign up. Members receive a £10 gift voucher for every friend they refer. Learn more: https://goo.gl/s9fznK

Is this not false advertising?  It is certainly giving the wrong impression.  This club operates on a first come, first pick of unoccupied pitches - rightly or wrongly that's how it is.  So how can it be suggested that you pitch next to a friend???  This may be possible given all the stars are in alignment, there's an R in the month etc.  BUT it is not a given.  Unlike with the friendly club where you can request this, and if possible - we have managed this several times smile This club does not even allow the request for any sort of a pitch let alone a couple together.  VERY MISLEADING

Maybe someone could report my post and we could have an official comment about these matters it on this thread?

    You most certainly couldn't.

I wonder what the ASA would have to say about it?

It's just the FB fantasy that creates the impression that this is possible. The reality is you'll be told to arrive at a site at the same time as your friends but you are not guaranteed a pitch together. Much more fun to traipse round the site with your BBQ stuff. laughing

Why not pitch together.   Here is how it is done.

Get a couple of those "Motor Caravan using this Pitch" signs and go for a wander round to select your pitch.   Stick the signs on the ones you want, bring your outfit to one of them and text your mate the pitch number for the other one.

    Hi Bakers2,

Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry if you found this misleading and your feedback has been noted. As you mentioned, you can't pre-book pitches, they are allocation on arrival, however when you speak to the warden on the site they will let you know what pitches are available and if there are any together. Also if you book a CL Site you can speak to the owner to see if they will reserve 2 pitches together.

speak to the warden on the site they will let you know what pitches are available and if there are any together.

But unless you and your friend arrive at the site in convoy you still won't be able to get adjacent pitches since pitches cannot be reserved (disability excepted).
