What further brilliant news !!!!!!!!!
Yes 2 further sites lost from the network and just to top it anther £2 on the membership fee. When one wonders will this huge club start acquiring sites rather than what appears to be a constant losage of sites just when more and more members join. Seems that the executive cannot simply make it pay when many commercial sites are stepping up to the mark.
Before anyone says it we are long members who want a performing club, not the option of going elsewhere.

The worrying thing is that there's the likelihood of even more going next year....Crystal Palace, Bristol, and maybe Bromyard Downs

Not forgetting the impending closure of Crystal palace.
With Braemar the club thank the members for using this site which is no doubt a staunch favourite with some and includes the skiing fratenity in winter. However has the site closed, there's no mention of that.

According to their website they are still open for business with prices quoted until December 2018. It was still a Club site when we were last there many years ago. It seems they are following the trend of having camping pods and they are also advertising seasonal pitches so how many touring pitches are available it's difficult to judge. At least in the scheme of things it is still available as a campsite so not all is lost. Some of the others mentioned could disappear completely as campsites.

My impression is that the overall number of sites and pitches in the UK is growing not shrinking - CS and CLs expand and become open to all, more and more pubs and businesses open their parking areas to motorhomes, and large and small landowners open new campsites - but for some folk none of that counts as they aren't "Club sites" .

In the great scheme of things the small rise in membership fees, over 52 weeks, is neither here or there. Why is everyone so hung up about the loss of two commercial sites, who just happened to offer a small discount to members, and often to members of other organisations. They are not lost nor closed, still available just a little bit more expensive. The December magazine also has an article extolling the virtues of "pods", I'm not worried about these either, so long as they are not positioned in prime pitch areas. By the way a planning notice was being displayed on the entrance road into Freshwater East site for several pods, this summer. If they bring in extra money or introduce people to our hobby, good news.

Much Wenlock going is very old news, Mildenhall news is also dated. As for price increase, to be honest not unexpected, most memberships rise annually.
What is a dead cert is that despite whining and whinging on a regular basis on CT about Sites and membership, the OPs will still part with their membership fee and enthrall us even longer! Even money on that bet!

Re Braemar site. As I understand it the site belongs to the Balmoral Estates so I assume it will be run solely by them without the affiliation to the Club.

Wrong in both cases, eurot. CLs are decreasing in number year on year and they are open only to CC members.

And the cost of course!!! AS sites usually pay quite substantial fees to the Club. As they seem to be diversifying into Pods and seasonal pitches perhaps they don't think it worth paying such fees?

Not so. I use one which has 19 pitches, 5 of them CL pitches for club members. Anyone can stay on the other 14. All the same price, too, with no discount for being a CC member.

Sorry to correct you slightly teddy bear, Braemar site is owned by The Invercauld Estate. But your premise is probably still correct. Cheers, Alex.
