Strictly Time Again
I have really enjoyed watching Strictly over the years. ---- But is this year's offering going to be the start of it's downfall. Poor choice of unknown " Celebrities " and the same old tired format in production is not inviting.
Will I still watch it ? -- Probably Am I looking forward to it this year.-- Not Really

Hi MR, We recorded the programme and played it last night. I am impressed by the Resident Band and the Singers. Also the professional dancers' routines. Those young ladies are so fit, nubile, slim and fantastic movers.
We were luckily able to zap through the boring bits.
Two contestants who are likely to qualify for the show's traditional comedy acts are IMO Susan Calman and Richard Coles.
I've set the recorder to record the whole series so will be able to follow the progress of the show as required.

Watched the show last night and there were some potentially good contestants.
Debbie McGee was very good ,but it's been reported that she is a trained ballet dancer and was a professional dancer for a number of years, also was a choreographer. So understandably she has an advantage over those with no dancing experience.

Aston Merrygold was good, Dennie McGee excellent, flying the flag for us older ladies, she owned a ballet school but hasn't danced or trained for 35 years and then only ballet which is a very different discipline indeed - I think she is very brave doing strictly, I certainly wouldn't trust my hips enough to do the splits etc Hope she doesn't do herself any injuries, Chizzy whoever certainly has rhythm, if she shapes up a bit she could be a contender, Ruth Langford was clumpy, Richard Coles is the comedy act, Sue I'm waiting to see more first, everyone else is so-so for first dance I think, roll on next week

Some really good dancing last night, And some complete disasters. I really enjoy the quality of the resident band and those 4 excellent singers.
Debbie McGee was very good , as we would expect due to her having been a former professional dancer. But there were others not far behind, so the competition at the top is quite tight.
That new head judge was inconsistent and suffered from poor judgement saying that some competitors were good ,when they were actually awful.
I'm not quite sure what planet Bruno is on. ----------Very bizarre behavior..
There are a few dancers who are not going to make it, but they add to the fun.

The usual mix of names you know and names you don't. Funny how all the celebs 'reallly wanted' the partners they ended up with. But after just a couple of dances, there are some great pairings, well matched with plenty of chemistry.
Some inconsistency with the judging/scoring but they got the vote off right. Too much time standing around not dancing in that routine - glad she's gone, whoever she was.
Brian and Rev'd Cole shouldn't be too far behind. Charlotte has potential to be very graceful & elegant on the dance floor - I just hope she can conquer her nerves.
All in all, a very entertaining show with some great performances for week 2, excellent professional routines and I do like Claudia - quite comical.
Perhaps for the Children in Need week, they should make Claudia & Tess learn a routine, paired up with Bruno & Craig perhaps 😲

I've given Shirley Ballas a few weeks to settle in before commenting on her judging skills or what she brings to the show.
She is just not gonna make it. Her logic is all wrong and her judging lacks common sense. Her combative attitude and favouritism brings nothing to an otherwise enjoyable entertainment show. The term "Snippy" best describes her attitude. Best thing she can do is to sit the rest of the series out and not bother returning. ---As a viewer I consider that she is just an unnecessary encumbrance which the show can do without.

I have to compliment Dave Arch, the Musical director and arranger for Strictly.---- His arrangements of the music and the vocals is superb. The four singers are talented and versatile. Real professionals ....
Makes watching Strictly a pleasure, especially during this year where the celebrity dancing is disappointing and mundane.

You'll win with her David.

Finding all the messing about this year ,between and after dances starting to bore me now. Wish they would just get on with the dance and reduce the show to half the time.

Some really good dancing last night. Joe Mcfadden surprised everybody with an excellent routine. Debbie was excellent, proving that mature ladies who maintain their fitness can compete and win against the youngsters..
That new judge S.Ballas is hopeless, the show would be better off without her attendance.

And who on earth believes The Daily Mail?
Only intelligent and well adjusted people,People with a will to see the UK prosper. ---------------- The real numpties believe the Guardian. ----------------I personally never buy any newspaper.
Strictly is a great show. S Ballas spoils it with her strange scoring and high and mighty attitude. The show doesn't need her IMO.

Yes, I agree about the Winkelperson! Never been quite sure exactly what her talents are supposed to be and will someone please tell her that sitting with her knees together and ankles a yard part is not a pretty sight!
As for the judges, I'd dump Bruno who seems incapable of staying sat down to discuss the performances.
Mind you, I don't take the programme very seriously - only watch it because Mrs M insists.
