European break down cover over 3500kg
Just rang green flag about European break down cover for mh over 3500kg but sadly no joy.
Does any one know who will provide cover for a six week trip to France.

Phil, Those who have large motorhomes insured with Safeguard and Comfort say both those companies can provide add-on breakdown cover without restriction of size. Perhaps your insurer will too?

Safeguard do provide cover through the AA, its based on the cover the AA provide for the Fleet market as opposed to individuals I think you will find so probably worth reading the policy closely.
Red Pennent is not the cheapest but hopefully they will give more help than some.

I was insured with Safeguard 6 years ago and unless they have changed their policies anything over 3.5 tons was not fully covered. Do checkout the coverage.
I currently have cover with the RAC via the C&CC "Arrival" breakdown cover. There is an option to add European wide cover for any number of trips in a year to the UK "Arrival" policy at the cost of £89. There are no weight or size limits.
I have generally found that I can get a better deal on insurance by keeping breakdown and vehicle insurance separate but it could very much depend on many factors as to what is best for you.
By all accounts RP is certainly very good but is expensive.

Hi, I am insured with Comfort Insurance on a Dethleffs Esprit (7.4m long and 4,000 kg GLW) Having just checked my policy which is their Horizon Advantage for £368 I get comprehensive insurance together with full UK and European cover with no limit on weight, length ,height or age.

Hi Phil, what model mh (engine) do you have and how old is it? I have a Fiat Ducato and the first 3 years of EU breakdown cover come free with from Fiat. I believe they use RAC Europe. But I also take out RP Multi-trip because it is much more comprehensive than other covers. And I have used it twice in the past 15 years and based on that experience, would not be without it. Yes, it is expensive, but you get what you pay for.
It makes a big difference to the price of your mh insurance if you can utilise your no claims bonus, I knocked off almost £1K by doing this. Most motorhomers only have a small second car, I am told, so look at the options with your ncd. If the insurance includes breakdown cover this might be the way to go.

Red Pennant through ADAC provided us (mh 4T) with breakdown recovery in Germany. A massive recovery truck arrived promptly but we didn’t want the mh taken to a dealer (it was a public holiday and we preferred the campsite to a garage). In the end we didn’t use the service and after the holiday we found an excellent Fiat dealer near Bingen. The exhaust sensor was replaced in less than 24 hours.
