I am sure you will love BA wherenext! Fabulous walking and scenery, but be careful down by the Strid. Skipton is a lovely town, about 20 minutes away, nice independent shops and eateries, Castle is lovely. Parking in the Bailey car park is better than using the big car park, and only 5 minutes stroll from main part of town.
We are booked in early December.

Ta, TTDA. Only just managed to get wi-fi connection after weekenders left today!
We've enjoyed it. Mrs WN used to come to The Strid with her parents so knows a bit of the area. We've been up to Simon's Seat on Barden Moor and also down to Abbey, as opposed to Downton Abbey! (Sorry about pun).
Super place for walking. Hope you enjoy it next month.

Glad that you're having a good time at BA. Did you notice if there was still a restriction on taking dogs up onto Simon Seat. There was last time we were there.

Didn't know there was a restriction on dogs but now that you mention it, I can't remember seeing a single dog during our walk once we had left the riverside path and started to climb up Howgill, nor any on the way down the Valley of Desolation until we reached the riverside path again. I honestly never gave it a thought until your post! It must be because of all of the Grouse up on the moor.
Mrs.WN swears she saw someone with a Westie quite a way behind us but I need to go to Specsavers because I didn't. Maybe they didn't see the signs or didn't care.
TTDA - Skipton is a lovely town, - We agree with you. Mrs.WN says that the sweet shop she used to visit 50 years ago is still there! Mind you she loves any place that there's an Art Shop. I did manage to wangle a pint in the Wooly Sheep. Recommended by the way.

Thanks WN, we'll just have to head that way some time and check. I'm sure that they can't stop people with dogs walking on official footpaths.

That may well be it. We'll find out sometime, no doubt.

Glad you had a nice time WN! The Christmas Market is on in Skipton during our visit, it was great last year!
Devonshire Estate Nellie, so dogs are only allowed in certain areas, grouse have priority!

Have just found this statement on the Simon Seat Walk on the Walking Britain web site :- Please note that dogs are not allowed on the moorland sector of this walk. So it looks as if we won't be getting up there any time.
