Good news that your bathroom is nearly finished Helen. Are you pleased with it?

We have had a lovely day today. We met up for lunch with some good friends that we met many years ago on a French campsite. They live in Warwickshire and we meet up 2 or 3 times a year in a place that is convenient to all of us. We had a 3 hour catch up today and the time just flew by.

Nice days walking around a couple of bird reserves. Sore feet now but worth it.
Couldn't get into the CLs we wanted to on the way home as they were closed for maintenance work. Damned inconsiderate. Having to fork out a small fortune and stop at Bolton Abbey instead. Ah well, it's only money. We'll enjoy it. Last day in York tomorrow.
Had a nice day in York yesterday including lunch at Loch Fyne restaurant. An enjoyable set menu for less than £11.

Quite right to be chuffed, too 😊
A neighbouring farmer has a small herd of English Longhorns. The adults are very wary, but the youngsters are very inquisitive and absolutely gorgeous.
They are kept outside, on a really rough field, all year, but don't seem to come to any harm.
Will try to post a photo.

I remember all the dust and mess doing our kitchen last year, bathroom hadn't been as bad. Hope everything goes well with work top cutting.

Yes millie it's looking good.
Very pleased with the wall panels so much easier fitting them over the top of the tiles.

Day 2 here in Nerja (Spain) villa is lovely, we are quite high up above the town and have some fantastic views north and south along the coast, the hills are behind us so spoilt for choice of which way to look. Weather yesterday was a bit cloudy in the afternoon but today its been blue skies all day. Temperature not great just around the 20c mark by mid afternoon and down to around 8c at night so we have a heater on in the lounge to take off the chill. It must be the first time we have had to have heat on when on the Costas.
Tomorrow we are going exploring some of the white hilltop towns, we both still have colds so not sure if we will have the energy for climbing some of the steep streets but we will give it a go.

It was quiet at work yesterday evening, so they let me go at 20:30 so that I only had to work two and a half hours. I did four deliveries between six and eight before it went quiet.

20c is comfortable, Tammygirl! You don't need it any hotter than that but yes I agree that 8 degrees at night might feel a little chilly!

This morning, we need ro drive the Smart car to the home address in Worthing to swap over to the Shogun and then drive to the Brrighton Mitsubishi service to get a new battery fitted. Once this is done, there'll no longer be the need to give the Shogun a run every few days. The new battery should be able to hold its charge so that we can reduce to once a week.
After the new battery has been fitted we'll need to take the Shogun back to the home address and swap over to the Smart car to get back to our caravan.
I've got the day off from work today, so plenty of time available! Tomorrow I'm back to work to do the evening shift of 18:30 to 21:30.

More extreme paperwork.
Getting ready for our Annual Organic Audit & Inspection by the Soil Association on Monday. Being organic is not just happy cows gambolling in wild flower meadows. There are a lot of paper trails involved; from Herd Health Plans, Feed Plans (and audit) to a very comprehensive veterinary and medicine record (dates, cow ID's, drugs, expiry dates, batch numbers, dosage, supplier, withdrawal and more). Plus details field inputs and cropping. And much much more besides.

Sun peeping out here now. Off to mother shortly via M&S to buy bits reserved yesterday - long story short, had email offering 25% off lingere expiring yesterday, turns out that was from NZ offers. Never mind 20% friends and family coupons through the post and taken 😉, they don't start until today. Actually everything i tried to do in town was a bit like that yesterday 😢. But OH will drop me and wait. Then off to industrial area to return faulty burglar alarm. It just keeps beeping MOST ANNOYING, lovely lady at ScrewFix reckons may be a faulty batch so happy to give us money back! Turns out if it's not monitored alarm no discount on policy cost so we'll just leave the old one up 😉. At least that won't distribution the neighbours when we're away 😂.
Enjoy your day folks whatever you'e doing.
Helenandtrevor great news on the bathroom. Any plans for extensive diy? 😂

Not too keen on Halfords. We're at the Mitsubishi service at the moment and they are already doing it. It should be ready in about half an hour.

Would not use a main dealer for things like tyres, batteries, wipers, bulbs etc, we usually order on line from one of the specialist firms and get tyres fitted locally, other stuff I can fit myself.
We did have a new battery in the XC90, I think we got it from Euro Car Parts, it was a while back but cost was, IIRC, around £100.....it was some odd size and shape so not widely stocked.

Got the new worktop cut to size, end rounded off and all the necessary edges rounded, we just had to carry it a few metres out onto the deck and back in again, so OH managed to help me OK.
After optician at 3pm, I started on her little additional project, moving some sliding baskets to a different cupboard and replacing them with drawers. Baskets all moved, sufficient free materials obtained from Ikea, so only the difficult bit of actually making and fitting the drawers left.
Worktop, which is solid beech, will need several coats of Danish Oil with sanding between, so OH will be helping with that. All the old worktops need refinished too, but that will have to wait till next year now.
Today we are at DD's house continuing the tiling while she is home to make any necessary design decisions.....she usually works from home on Thursdays.

I've spent most of the afternoon convincing my Dad (he's 91 and lives on his own) that the letter he got yesterday from the People's Postcode Lottery telling him he'd won £325000 was bogus!
"Do you play the lottery Dad?" "No".
"Have you ever bought a ticket for this lottery?" "No".
"Well it's a scam then!" "I'm not so sure - it looks genuine!"
And it certainly did.
Fortunately he was sensible enough not to ring the number given with his bank details - we've at least convinced him never to do that.
But these fraudsters are very clever and have absolutely no shame do they?

I agree Malcolm that 20c is a nice temp to be out and about in, however it is not hot enough to heat the big villa we are staying in. The Spanish homes are not built like ours, the floors are all tiled so freezing to walk on, the rooms are mostly open plan downstairs so heating them is not easy. I think we would be much warmer in our m/h.
Went out to visit Friglianna today, market day to so bonus

No, but I did scan it and send a copy to the Lottery itself - they were very impressive, replying within an hour to confirm it was bogus - and to the action fraud website who were less so, just a standard email acknowledgement from them. Also made all his neighbours aware.

I remember similar conversations with my Mum, in fact when my sister and myself started delving a bit more and sorting Mum's bank account she had signed up for some dubious charity direct debits. We were able to stop those at source. Old people are so vulnerable and these wretched people know this, it makes me angry!

That is very worrying moulesy. How many people have been caught out by this who don't have sensible relatives to put a stop to it.

I agree tammygirl. We have friends who live in Spain and their villa can be cold in temparatures of 20 degrees. The cold comes up from the marble floors. I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and that the weather gets a bit warmer.

Ours cost £157.15 paid for using my Tesco credit card, so more points!

It's nice and warm in our caravan even when the outside temperature is freezing. I must admit, I'm glad of the carpet!
