New To You
Have you tried a "new to you site" in the UK this year and did you enjoy it? We tried the York Rowntree Park site for the first time (only got in due Jan-Mar bookings being not so busy.) As it was near a special wedding anniversary we had an afternoon tea in the Countess of York carriage at the Railway Museum and an extra treat was seeing a 21 gun salute for the Queen's long reign. A short but interesting visit.

We tried out a new to us club site at Southport early July. The site served it's purpose. Walking to rail stations, about equidistant to Southport and Birkdale, explored down as far as Port Sunlight, Liverpool - several times, Another Place and Formby all by incredibly reasonable priced day rovers. Visited Southport Lord Street sadly past its best but not sufficiently degraded that you can't see its lost original beauty. The site lead straight onto the dunes in one direction, a beautiful park from another and a shorter route to Birkdale station. Certainly fulfilled it's expectation for a base, leaving our motorhome where it was from arrival to departure.
We tried out a privately run site in Mundesley, very nice and if in the area will probaby use again. A council site in Lincoln, short walk to bus into the city, very reasonable. Lovely castle and cathedral as minimum to explore. Site on the edge of park. A couple of new local CL's one we have already returned too and another we won't, we've done all that can be by foot or bus on the latter.
Hoping to use more new to us sites next year. I look forward to inspiration. But not those above by EasyT 😉

Because the club site at Grassington was closed early in the year we tried Wood Nook, a smallish private site less than a mile away. It was an "interesting" tow for the last half mile or so along a narrow lane with a couple of sharp bends, but a very nice site when we got there - most pitches seemed to be seasonal and there were a few statics too but it never felt over busy. Slightly more expensive than the club site would have been. Lots of walks direct from the site too.
Bakers - which site did you use at Mundesley? We staxed in a tiny cottage there some years ago and always said we'do like to return to the area.

It was Sandy Gulls link below. We had a pitch right on the front. Walk directly out and down to the beach, down the cliff. Has residential homes one side, no problem to touring side and large toilet block. There was at least one other site on the cliff too, can't remember name but possibly had kiln in it! Didn't check out any others. Bus route to Cromer.

I tried Polmanter this year instead of spending all my time at Godrevy. Although it cost a bit more I was very impressed and will use it again off peak. Also stayed at Aberbran, a low facility site and Knaresborough. At the latter the Club is trying to do something different. Different look and feel to the site and it appears quite popular.

We had a few nights at Warwick Racecourse Club Site and really enjoyed it. Small, easy walk into Warwick centre, brilliant for dogs, lots of interesting visits close by such as Gaydon Motor Museum, some nice cycle routes, very cheap site fees and only hour and half from home. We will definitely go back. Other than one night at Bromyard Downs, this has been our only Club Site visit this year, but we have stayed on a number of lovely CLs and private sites, all new to us.
Our discovery of last year was Bolton Abbey Site, we are booked in again December, cheaper than a lot of CLs, great walks, lovely scenery, and we get to stock up with delicious food at Booths in Ilkley on the way! There were only four outfits on the whole site for a few nights last year, lovely and peaceful!

Only done one club site this year and that was Henley, Four Oaks. I rarely revisit sites but we were last there two years ago.

Warwick for first time and really enjoyed it. Might not be the best site but great location for town and all other necessities without taking the car out. Only mistake was visiting Stratford on a Saturday when much too busy for dogs.
First visit to Blackshaw Moor and enjoyed it so much we let somebody else have Chatsworth for the weekend and stayed on. Exact opposite to Warwick site excellent and really big HS pitches but too far for us to walk to town. However much to visit by car in area.
Last new to us site was Malvern Hills. Liked site but not enamoured by area and found Malvern and Ledbury disappointing.

We try to find something different each year and amongst this year's offerings was the Hereford C&CC site. It’s a franchised site so not a typical club site. It was open and spacious whilst being sheltered by perimeter hedges and the facilities were good as you might expect. It was also convenient for enjoying all that the area has to offer.
Best of all was the new to us experience of the 8 or 10 sites we used on the Northern Isles. All the sites were adequate or better and the community sites were a real find. The whole trip was fabulous and I’d visit both Orkney and Shetland again given the opportunity.

In UK we like to try new sites where possible. This year we visited 12 we had not used before......
2 CLs which we may well use again
3 C&CC, Cambridge, St Neots and Salisbury, all good and if in the area we may well use them again.
7 CAMC, River Breamish, Henley, Chapel Lane, Uttoxeter, Willingcot, Merrose Farm and Ramslade.
Would not return to Henley as the roads around there are narrow and very busy.
Willingcot was quite exposed, and memorable for the storms we endured while there. Due to the weather we did not see as much of the area as we wanted to, but would try a different site next time.
Merrose was a nice site but not that well placed for seeing the area so would use a different site if we visit the area again.
Uttoxeter was used for a Mover repair at the nearby Truma factory, hopefully we will not need to go there for that again! Site was quiet , facilities need modernised, but the price reflected the shortcomings.
Chapel Lane was surprisingly peaceful for such an urban area so would use again if visiting the area.
Ramslade was a nice site, the road to it is not great but OK with care. Some interesting NT properties in the area.

We always use Globe Vale when we go to Cornwall, just outside Redruth. Quite close to Porthtowan but central, so that you can get to many places. Cheaper and less crowded than Polmanter. Owners are great and work and maintain an excellent site. We always have a full serviced pitch on a hardstanding. Worth a try...

Windmill Hill Caravan Park, Pembroke
Poston Mill Holiday Centre, Nr Hereford
Clover Fields, Buxton
All the others we have been to before. The site that we have visited the most this year is Globe Vale at Redruth (total 36 nights - on 5 separate visits - mainly to visit our daughter who is at uni in Falmouth).

Wareham Forest Holiday Park (twice)
Blackshaw Moor CAMC site (twice)
Conkers C&CC site
Chapel Lane CAMC site
Enjoyed all the sites we have visited and would visit again.

I've just checked our list and we've also tried out about nine other new sites including CLs and a rally (we were on a waiting list for that one.) Another new site that was quite different was the C&CC non facility site at Slindon where we opted for no ehu, lovely little relaxed woodland site.

All the sites I go to are new to me as that is what I do when caravaning - go to new areas - although I have revisited a couple when I needed to be in an area for non-leisure purposes.

17 new sites so far this year and with another outing planned for later this month we should break 20.
We think life is too short to keep going back to the same place, similarly with foreign holidays new destinations every time for us.

This year we have visited several new to us CL'S, all good and 2 of which we visited for a second time,
We also stayed at Hebden Bridge site for the first time this year, lovely small no facility site . Stayed mainly to visit the Bronte museum, and meet up with family, but Hebden was a nice town and also enjoyed a day walking at Hardcastle Crags.

About 10 new CLs, 2 new non CMC sites and, if I make it to Friday, 1 new CMC site at Bolton Abbey. There have been 3 revisited CLs, 2 revisited CMC sites and 1 revisited non CMC site, but the year hasn't finished yet
.The 2 new non CMC sites have been excellent, Rosedale at Penley near Wrexham, an adult only all year site which at the most expensive time will cost you the princely sum of £13.50 per night, and Cherry tree Cottage CS in York which can cost from £12.50 pn. There are still bargains to be had.

New sites to us this year
Berwick seaview - not a bad site but not for us, think it was the urban environment, we only visited because we knew the wardens from another site
Yellowcraig - nice site and location hopefully we will make a return visit next next year.
Gart park Callander - all we can say about this site is we should have went to maragowan
In 2018 apart from visiting our usual haunts of maragowan, bunree, morvich, north Ledaig and Blair Atholl we plan to visit and stay at port Charlotte on the isle the Islay.

Apatullo, agree with most of your comments - Gart used to be a lovely site but they started to become overly burdened with rules and regulations to the point they made CAMC sites feels very relaxed😂

19 new CLs most which we'd return to and some excellent ones plus 2 new commercial sites, New Farm and Rosedale both near Wrexham, so far but there's time to fit in some more. On top of the above we've visited 23 CL, 3 CC's site and 1 commercial site that we've used before.
