It's not often that I really say that but this story just left me speechless.

Paramedics say they have been left shocked by a note left on an ambulance windscreen telling them not to block a driveway.

The note read: "You may be saving lives but don't park your van in a stupid place and block my drive."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-41953644

I do hope the writer that note never has to use the paramedic for himself or his family, but if she/he should I am pretty sure they would want them there asap and not looking for a place to park?

A while back a Fire engine stopped in the road near to where we live and no traffic could get through, all they were doing was knocking on doors to see if anyone wanted a smoke alarm fitted ,and an Ambulance on a blue light call had to wait to get through , so sometimes the emergency services don't always think before they park

When we hear of the yobbish element who attack emergency service vehicles and their crews, are we really surprised by any outrageous behaviour?

I do not think we have enough information to pronounce on this.

Were they blocking someone out or in?

Were they available to be asked to move?

They should not block someone in and be unavailable to move for 30 minutes.   People  may have appointments, children to collect.

so when someone calls 999 with a life threatening condition and the difference of a few seconds could make all the difference between a happy ending or not, you're saying that you would want them to consider your neighbours (who perhaps will actually be alive in 30 minutes) rather than you?

One has to ask whether the writer of said note would do the same if he was stuck in traffic behind an ambulance attending to an accident? Or ask the fire engine to move a bit to the right whilst they were tackling the fire? Me, me, me society.

    Grade 1 Pillock.

not  necessarily, just saying that we do not have enough info to condem the complainer, one way or the other

When I had the ambulance to me on two occasions then if they had blocked somebody's drive it would have been unreasonable and totally unnecessary. If at my daughters rented terraced house in Leigh they would probably have blocked the entire street quite understandably. Such is available parking.

well the complainer didn't know what was happening either but still left that note.

Perhaps I am old fashioned but whenever I see an ambulance or fire engine anywhere I would never complain about how they drive or  indeed where they park. They give first aid, help people and save lives. Any of those things in my book gives them all the permission they need.

You say that  People may have appointments, children to collect. are more important than any of those? Those people are unharmed and alive. All that will happen is that they will suffer a slight inconvenience.

I am very careful about parking, and haven't annoyed anyone in over 60 years of driving.  Not clever - just brought up to be considerate towards others.

I see that the person the paramedics were attending to died the following day in hospital.

Hope the neighbour isn't going to the funeral.

I was once blocked in by an ambulance ......wife was on her way for a hospital appointment, Explained at hospital if the ambulance would have done a BOGOF deal and taken my wife as well! gave them a laugh!!
