2017 CL of the Year Awards
Good Afternoon All,
Yesterday I was fortunate to attend the CL of the Year awards for 2017, where I got to meet our Regional Winner, 2 joint winners and celebrate their achievements with them.
The award ceremony took place yesterday afternoon at the Houses of Parliament.
The Regional Winner this year was Low Moor Head Farm,
A CL site which has been on a CL site since 2005. It is a family run site managed by Owen and Adele along with their son Owen. The site is located on a working beef and sheep farm on the Duddon Estuary in Cumbria close to the Scottish Border. Adele also has a collection of Chickens and Ducks and treats her guests to complimentary eggs. The site is also home to Shetland Ponies, 3 Donkeys and 2 Pigmy Goats.
Low Moor Head has previously come in 2nd Place for the National Award in 2013 and Regional Winners in 2009, 2010 and 2015
Our Joint 2nd Place winners are Welltrough Hall Farm and Meadow Bank Farm are both relatively new to running CL sites.
Welltrough Hall Farm is owned by Nick and is situated on a 270 acre working farm in Cheshire and opened just over 18 months ago as a brand new CL Site. He offers fully serviced hard-standing pitches overlooking the Cheshire countryside, a 3 km dog walk on site and warm dog showers.
Local Pubs are close by along with easy access to Tatton Park, Arley Hall and Gardens and many more attractions.
Nick has thoroughly enjoyed his experience running a CL site and meeting our members and looks forward to many more years with the Club.
Meadow Bank Farm is owned and run by Tim and Catherine and opened their site just over 1 year ago after moving from the Midlands to the New Forest after finding their dream home. Meadow Bank Farm was a Certificated Location Site in the past which they refurbished and reopened. Located on 5 Acres which used to be an old Dairy Farm, it is 30 minutes from the beach and walking distance to a local pub. The site also has its own therapy room where members can enjoy massages, nutritional information and other holistic therapies.
Tim and Catherine have loved their CL experience and it has meant a great deal to them that members have voted for them.
You can read more about the CL of the Year Awards here.
Thank you to everyone who voted for their favourite CL sites.

Am I missing something here!!
The "winner" this year has a grand total of 2 reviews for the whole year and only had 4 in 2016!!
Plus they have already put their prices up an extra £2 and want a staggering £25 a night from 19th Dec - 2nd Jan.
So, congratulations for "winning" the CL of the Year but I will definitely be going somewhere else.

Just a correction, the site does have a shower,3km mown farm walk,wi-fi ,fully serviced hardstanding pitches, all after a considerable investment

Congratulations on being a runner up.
However I have just looked up, via the link above, your listing and there is no mention of a shower for people, shower for dogs is mentioned in the blurb, it caught my eye 😉.
Before posting I rechecked my facts and a long way down the page there is mention of a shower, almost incidental after the prices, in fact I had to read it twice to check there wasn't an extra charge for its use!
When looking for a CL I expect that sort of info in the facilities part at the start - if it didn't have what I wanted listed there I'd move on immediately to next site. Also your listing states 2km mown dig walk but your comment above says 3km 😉
I suggest you ask the club to amend your listing, as the club don' seem great at supporting CL entries, be that details or reviews. There are still lots of missing reviews from the website site 'upgrade' almost 12 months ago😉.

The CL of the year competition will only be meaningful and realistic when the Club publishes and demystifies the voting procedures. Not wanting to take the shine away from the winners and their hard work investment and commitment, but until the voting results are transparent, no one knows just how many are voting for winners.....could be two or two hundred!
Congrats to those with prizes, but there are hundreds of lovely CLs out there, all doing some very good stuff!

It looks a nice site and one which I would be prepared to pay for. We make three touring trips a year and would be unlikely to pay a visit in the next few years as we stopped off at Capesthorne Hall for 5 nights at the end of September at the end of our last outing.
I will tell OH for when we are next in the area ........... she is the one with a memory!!

We visited Welltrough in March and what a fantastic job Nick has done on the CL .And no one has mentioned the view which alone has gotta be worth a few bob .For me,hearing comments like this is too dear that’s too dear ,wrong hookup,no shower 😳for heavens sake if people thought how much has been invested in a CL like Nicks they would realise why the charges are made.
Great job Nick

If you now add the regional winners the theme appears to continue. There's only one, Wood Kiln, which charges below £16 pn, and well below at that!! And a great site it is too.
