Access to London costs.
I am looking to use one of the London sites. A couple of questions about the congestion charge and Low emissions charge.
If I enter the zone to access one of the sites I understand the charges. However if I am there for a couple of days but use public transport for the stay and the car stays on site Do I get charged for each day even though the car does not move? This applies to both charges.

You only get charged for driving in to the Congestion Zone on the day and for each day you enter it. None of the CC sites are in the Congestion Zone. If your car is older than 2006 you will also have to pay the new T charge.
If you have an older motorhome towing a car? then you may have to pay the LEZ charge for the MH which covers a much larger area. Check the TFL website

Avoid all the charges and stay at a site on the outskirts and catch an off peak train in using a day rover ticket. If you are coming from the north I recommend >Henlow Bridge Lakes< on the east coast main line. A 5 minute walk to the station. Closer in there is the Club site at >Wyatts Covert< From the south, perhaps the C&CC sites at >Chertsey< or >Horsley< or if you are not a C&CC member have a look at >Apps Court Farm<. For the last four sites you will probably need transport to the nearest station for a trip into London.

As already said, none of the London sites are in an area that leaves you liable to a charge.
The only thing you need to consider is if you have an older Diesel MH over a certain weight that is not Euro 4 or above to comply with the LEZ which is basically anywhere just inside the M25.
Another thing that visitors need to be aware of is the whole public transport system is now cashless. You can still buy tickets from a train station machine but buses only take Oyster card (which you can by in many shops) or you can just use your debit/credit card if it has the "Touch facility" activated on it. You can also do this on main line services in London and the Underground.
One last thing, If anyone wants to do some sight seeing on the cheap its well worth looking at sites such as "Buy a Gift" you can get some great deals, like a meal for two and wine/fizz in various landmark buildings, Or on a river boat/ sightseeing tour. Although we live here we often do them. Last year we did a 2 hour river boat one with 3 course meal for £45 for the 2 of us.

Tesco clubcard boost, is also worth looking at if you have any spare vouchers. Great savings on many places to visit, both in London and around the country.
