Water leak

We seem to have developed a bit of a leak on the red pipe that goes in / out of the water tank. Water is coming from the nut despite trying to tighten it. It has started all of a sudden. Any ideas for a quick fix until we can get it back home?

If it,s leaking from end screwed onto red pipe and you have tried tightening it  to no effect then it probably needs a new washer inside the joint. Only way to do this is drain the system and open the joint to renew the washer. Could be it has just deteriorated over time.

When I had a similar problem with a similar joint (pressure relief valve) it transpired that there was a crack in the red plastic in the threaded section. Having tried to tighten I realised the problem and tried to undo the connection (having drained). The red plastic thread sheared. The actual replacing of the part then meant using a junior hacksaw on the white nut so that I could split it to remove. New part from local dealership and easy to replace on site. Tools used - Junior Hacksaw, broad screw driver to insert in the cut and twist to split nut. I used molegrips to hold steady whilst sawing and borrowed an extra spanner from warden. Whole job was 20 mins to get part and 15 mins to remove a board for access, remove nut, replace part and tidy up.

    A fairly common failure

I'd try a new washer first.---- Damage to the plastic fitment is very rare and usually caused by ham-fisted over tightening.

    Best of luck

Damage to the red threaded section is not uncommon and likely due to flexing of the connected pipework during towing. This was confirmed when I collected a replacement in the dealer's stores.
