I've just noticed on the front website page that the club are offering "Join today and enjoy a free site night voucher on us!" What reward will us members of many years standing be offered I wonder on renewal of membership??

It's common enough practice with any business? (cheap insurance for the first year then up it goes, 15 months for the price of 12 for new members...)Why should any business offer something for something you're going to do anyway? I'm not that bothered by losing out on £30. You don't have to re join? I'll pay my fee because I want what the club offers

If you are really that bothered then let your membership lapse and rejoin?

Interesting question ColDeb but you answer with your thread title.

I suppose if your renewal is due you could let it lapse and then rejoin using your OH as the main member, it might work but personally I wouldn't bother

Nothing wrong in enticing new members, fair play to the club. I'm quite happy to give a new member a 'trial' first night if it means they join our club. Good business sense.

Similarly don't expect anything in return for being a 30 years member - except the window sticker of course!

    Hi all

All and any offers that we do are trials and target a certain sector. In the past we have offered site night vouchers to those for example, renewing Mayday breakdown cover/ insurance, those who haven't booked a Club site for a certain period of time, those that have booked lots of sites (as a thank you) as well as new Members. We try not to target the same sector/ market and are equally concerned with retention of our valued Members as we with are attracting new Members.

    Enjoy your days.

    Helen

It would be good to have some incentive for continued membership.  I sometimes feel disappointed that businesses, especially insurance companies, seem to encourage folk to swap companies to get a better deal.

    Similar feelings with loyalty.

Out of interest did you keep the same landlines telephone number? We've been with Virgin for years, great service and speeds but price just keeps going up despite cutting back on channels and only having basics. Can get a better deal as new customer but can' keep same landline number! Crafty. OH not keen to have a dish, cable is neat 😉. When I last enquired of Sky was told we' need a new landlines number. That's a pain cos we won' give out our mobile number and we'e had same landlines number for 32 years!

+1, I left BT when the B/Band price hit £52, I’m back 3yrs later & paying £30 for a better service. Loyalty counts for nothing, it’s used against those that continue to give their support. Likewise the cost of my energy has fallen over the years by switching suppliers. Loyalty-no, savvy-yessmile

    Ha Ha. --- Good Point

A typical "page 3" on the CMC monthly magazing might entice some of the customers to continue paying their annual levy. Also might entice some new customers to give the CMC a try. smile

sky like to have the box plugged into a telephone line so its easy to get pay per view like sports events/boxing/footy etc etc just by pressing a button on the hand set. i work as a BT engineer for 15 years and the number of customers i visited with faults being reported and slapping the customer with a bill for £50 just to unplug the sky box was unbelievable. easy money for both companies.

Perhaps if we start switching between the clubs we might be targeted

Not comparable offers between the clubs though David.

CC - no deposit, pick your pitch on arrival arrive 12 O'clock

C&CC and commercial/private sites - pay deposit, pitches allocated, arrive after 1PM.

Also C&CC less sites to choose from.

Strangely enough Rocky, I have to agree with your post. Some people can't see past the end of their own nose. Savings can be made by shopping around.

Choosing from the CMC, the C&CC, CL's, CS's and Commercial sites can provide an amazing choice of campsite locations which are obviously rejected  by those with a strange loyalty complex about one particular supplier. .

     K cool

as someone once said of our (national) allies, we don't have permanent friends, we don't have permanent enemies, just permanent interests

    (Gladstone?)

In other words look after number one - you!

After seeing a recent thread ' Stop moaning ' with the last post complaining about  talcum powder on the floor in a shower block  god knows what non members reading tosh like this actually think .

Then you wonder why new members are on the decline .....the mind boggles .😱

David, I had a very interesting conversation at my last renewal date of my home insurance. Rang existing company who shall be nameless (it was lv=) and told them I could save almost £100 on their price. Snooty clerk told me cover wouldn't be same, told him it would, he decided to check by accessing the comparison website direct. He came back on and sheepishly agreed to match the lower quote as the company offering the quote was the very same lv= . Amazing!

One of the advantages of being retired is that I now have a little more time to play insurance companies off against each other.  I do this every year with car and house insurance, but tend not to with caravan insurance - I always stick with the CAMC as I have heard some horror stories about folk that have had caravan insurance elsewhere and my own experience when I claimed through the Club was excellent.  With car and house insurance I'll always look for the best price and comparable cover.
