BMW X1 18d se sdrive
Hi
I'm looking at a brand new X1 to to my 1500kg bailey. Is anybody towing with one of these ?
It looks small but its 2000kg with 150 bhp so its similar stats as an x trail i used to tow with.

The MGW for a 2005 X trail is 2050. I want to know if anyone has been towing with the X1. I didn't ask for google experts to give me figures which i already know, If you haven't got one or haven't towed with one then don't fill up this discussion please, I can google myself if i need to know weights.

I haven't towed with an X1 because I don't believe they are capable of towing a big caravan safely.
As you will know, the kerb weight of a car is the important figure for working out towing capacity and 80% of kerb weight is the normal maximum recommended, unless you are an experienced tower when that can be increased to 100%.
Whilst the Gross weight of an X1 is 2015Kg, the Kerb weight is only 1430Kg. That would make towing a 1500Kg caravan potentially illegal.
Perhaps the lack of response from people who have towed with an X1 suggests that very few do.

I have and it gives me a perfect match for my Bailey with MGW of 1500KG as does the caravan club matching service. I asked the question just to see if anybody is towing with one on here. Obviously i'm asking in the place as all the replies are from people who are self confessed experts which don't tow with one.

Wow have you been on the booze, 15.5 & 18 ton really.
i wouldn't think any BMW car or 4x4 would tow that.

Don't come on here that often, but this thread is rather amusing.

Hi Rich81
My BMW X1 xDrive 20D Automatic 4WD has an unladen weight of 1660 kg.
I tow a Coachman 460 VIP 2018 MTPLM. 1500 kg.
I have weighed everything added to the stated ex works MRO.
which shows I’am at 90%.
Very pleased with how the car tows. Only just purchased the caravan
and will take it to a public weighbridge soon to make sure my figures are correct. I have towed caravan for 13 years and always keep to 50/55 mph.

EasyT, I really love your wit. You have made me smile many times as I wade through the daily dose of discussions. Keep it up. Let’s have more.
Well, I’ve now had the caravan weighed at the local public weighbridge and are happy to confirm that by taking a few things from the van and putting them into the car it’s 60 kg under its maximum plated weight and we are now towing at 87%.

Hi Kenneth
I have the X3 now but i used Milenco grand aeros on the X1 and I fitted Milenco F pads rubbers and they fit the top of the mirror perfect, I still use these on the X3. They were tight between the mirror and the glass but i used to be able to fit it in and move the mirror glass back down once fitted.
