I got by being a member of the Club and making many site bookings each year for a number of decades before I first found out about Bun Fight Day.

Depends on where you want to go, when and for how long. Certain Club Sites, such as York Rowntree Park, Bristol Baltic Wharf and certain others are very popular, especially if there are events on. But on the whole, the vast majority of Club Sites are easy to book in advance, after the December bookings open. It's a weird way of doing things, but you get used to some of the strange ways this Club operates!
Consider looking at CLs as well. You can book well in advance for these, and many have all the facilities and more of Club Sites, just quieter, huge choice of locations and usually a lot cheaper than many Club Sites!

It does seem bizarre that one isn't able to book on a rolling year but hey ho this is the club. Never participated in 'frenzy'day personally as haven't had the need. Even if there's an event in an area there are usually CL'S nearby bookable well in advance and for other big events there may well be temporary sites run by the national all clubs or other groups even a local landowner.
Luckily we don't require specific dates such as school holidays or fixed annual leave dates but even if we did I'm not sure I'd bother. I'd liken it to akin for buying tickets to a big gig where you need all hands on deck to use your phone and Internet devices! Incident lyn it is such a brilliant way of doing things that staff are taken from their departments to man the phones and the website resources are dedicated only to booking 😉 a strange way to operate 😉😂
I'm with takethedogalong
Even the travel companies don't have a launch day for brochures these days 😉

I cannot understand why the Caravan Club has to wait until December before bookings can be made for the following year. The Camping and Caravan Club has no such problem and one can advance book at any time ( I booked some considerably time ago for October 2018). If it is merely a technical issue then it needs sorting out, although the Caravan Club does not have a good record in respect of such issues.
I am sure nothing will change as the Caravan Club seems to be run for the benefit of the staff rather than the members.

According to the Club's Facebook page the Booking System is currently under review so your points may well be one of those under discussion. However I would add that the C&CC do take deposits which might well put a brake on the number of advance bookings. I am not advocating the same thing but it's worth bearing in mind.

yes, should have added that, but I never use a site without a guarantee of a HS (all HS or book a service pitch)

I don't want grass pitches generally but because of time of year, time of arrival and choosing sites with at least 70% hard usually I have had no problem in getting a hard standing.
If I weekended in peak season arriving 7pm on a Friday it might well be different

I'm happy with the club's booking system. I rarely book more than a few days in advance, and if a particular site is full, I go somewhere else. I'm not even thinking about next year.
