Club Together Statistics

In the past, I used to moan about the 'most read' and 'most posts' bylines that appeared on the home page of CT. The counts were the totals from the inception of the website, whereas they should have for each week or that day, as on BBC news website for example.

These stats have gone, but I'm puzzled by the 'views' totals on the discussion pages. The numbers are low, lower than the number of posts in some cases. Is it that there are very few of us still using CT? Is the total for 'views' the number of members who have viewed, rather than the number of times the discussion has been viewed?

I would find it interesting to know about a few other stats e.g number of members, number of members joined this week, number on line , most viewed this week, most posts this week ( or  rolling 24 hour figures). Any other suggestions, e.g most prolific poster!

Good post Chasncath, not too sure about the most prolific poster, might bring on a Weetabix war of "what I had for breakfast" type posts (which we have suffered on occasions already!) I'd be interested to know how many are on line/reading each day.

......or even the date we joined CT.  Myself and David Klyne joined on 10/01/2012 - a couple of months before CT went live.  😀😀.  See HERE.

I recall that one of DSB's early 'Stories' was the permanent front-runner in the 'most read' category! The story included an account of how David's faulty kettle kept plunging the site into darkness!

By the way, having just tried your link, I had trouble getting out of the page and back to here.surprised

I'd say that activity on this forum is now so low the club would be embarrassed to produce the figures. Once it was difficult to keep up with the latest activity page, this reduced when the 'upgrade' happened 10 months ago but it has steadily declined over that that so that it can be easy to read all the posts including the reviews 😉

I think there are still a lot of basic things on the forum just not working. Like Chas I can't work out how you can have more posts than views? I tend not to look at latest activity as I much prefer to work my way through the various sections. I might change my mind if they got rid of the liking of posts from latest activity. It would also be useful if it was only one line of text so that you could fit  more into a single page. Perhaps Rowena could could up date us on the latest stats for the forum? We certainly get far more posts on here that the C&CC forum and also more posts that some the other previously well used forums. Even Caravan Talk and UKCampsites don't seem to be getting the volume of posts they once did? On the other hand  one of the Facebook Groups I am on, motorhome related, is very busy. So it would be interesting to know how Club Together compares with the throughput the Club gets on Facebook. I know the two things serve slightly different purposes. It seems to me that Club Together is rarely mentioned in the Club Magazine any longer.

It is low, I use the latest activity page and unless there is an argument raging where "likers" are more prevalent the input has gone down. I find myself reading more reviews too, not a bad thing, as I've seen more CLs I might use in the future. The statistics may well reflect the low usage with reviews more frequent than forum posts on some days.

The only positive result of this low number if posts is I don't have to linger over my cuppa break these days. I used to have trouble making a cuppa last long enough to get through all the new contributions - I even had to select to read or dismiss to keep up.

As you say unless there is a 'heated' discussion going on it can be ages between posts on threads. I can see this being a justification for allowing the forum to whither. (Possibly what was intended with the upgrade and lack of fixes 😉).

It is of course possible it is a slack time of year and vanning is the last thing on members' minds and they are busy doing other things? On the other hand the forums lack of user friendliness compared to many others can be off putting and when it is also seen that posters are accused of trolling or winding others up just for expressing an opinion or fact others dislike/disbelieve, it is not surprising many think twice about posting anything.

Still puzzled by the 'views' total: the 'how to post photos' thread has 326 posts but only 15 views. Without explanation it's a meaningless number. Maybe there are only about 15 to 17 of us still using this forumsurprised
