Morvick, Scotland
Hi, Just been thinking about possible trips fro next year and I came across the Morvick club site in Scotland. Can anybody tell me what the site is like, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Some people love Morvich, some not. I remember it being a pretty standard CAMC site with mountains around and not far from Eilean Donan and Skye. I also remember midges!
I don't really know what you're looking for, munro, and all you can do is look at the pics, read reviews and make your own mind up.

Excellent site for the outdoor enthusiast. All the walking and mountain biking anybody would want. Small river runs beside the site where I've seen stags cooling off. Great mountains within easy reach. The fantastic Falls of Glomach is walkable for the fit, direct from the site. Take a trip over the Mam Rattagan pass to Glenelg, fantastic views. And lots more.
For those who don't like the great outdoors there are more appropriate sites.
It really depends on what your interests are. It's an area I know very well, in fact I will be passing that site tomorrow on my way further north.

Our review from a two week visit in a May 2016.
Close to Sheil Bridge and about 12 miles from Lochalsh,( the nearest supermarket), this little site was busy with the daily coming and going of vans and motor homes. The tent area always had at least one resident and was regularly occupied by dedicated long distance walkers on an overnight stay with their little tents. When we were there in the middle of May the weather began damp and cloudy but turned exceptionally warm and sunny for the second half of our stay. Getting wet whilst on a walk is not a problem as there is an excellent drying room. There are many walks to choose from but good 'gear' is essential as the paths, although mostly well marked, are not ideal for an afternoon stroll, and are often some way from an accessible road. An experienced walker could be rewarded with a view of the spectacular Falls of Glomach after a five and a half mile walk, mostly steeply uphill. Slightly less challenging are the forest walks around Balmacara, a short run up the coast. Where ever you go the views are amazing, impressive hills in every direction.
We also visited nearby Eilann Donan castle, and thought it good value for money. Privately owned and relatively recently restored after 200 years a ruin there was lots to see. Worth choosing a visit time carefully as there are often several coach parties and the corridors are narrow. There's plenty of parking
A word of warning. Exit the site carefully. The lane is mostly quiet but a few cars travel along quite quickly to say it's a twisty single track road

Up there this Spring, delightful Wild Scottish site
The only flaw could be the one that caused me & Mrs Warden to stop, stand and gaze in amazement ==> two kiddies laughing & playing happily together !! No problem with 'em playing and enjoying themselves, BUT we were staggered that they were even there
!! Unless they've been injected with Scottish water from an early age there is, truly, very little entertainment there for youngsters other than that which they carry themselves.Just have to admit that I only go there every other year -- I use the " Big K" alternately
As for the site, its flat as sites go, fairly open but not too far from the purveyors of all things needed.

It's also handy to go 'over the sea to Skye' courtesy of a convenient bridge.

We stayed there, in a motorhome, earlier this year. We used the bus. We also hired a car for a few days. Good roads, plenty to see. Beautiful countryside, mountains streams and loch. Wild flowers. Walks, short and longer treks, from site. I am pleased that the weather was kind....

There are a few Munro's that you can do directly from the site,or better still get a lift to the Clunie Inn and walk the North Kintail ridge back to the site. (Descent's a bit hairy though!!)

Used it as a base to visit Skye which was a mistake - should have stayed on Skye. Rained solidly for about 4 days when we were there and there is not much to do if weather is bad - delightful if the weather is good I'm sure. It's a long way from shops and restuarants etc.

The facility block is not the newest in the world but it is absolutely fine if you are there for the outdoor world around, which I assume most visitors to there are, because it would be a long drive (for most people) if you were just looking for a posh toilet block....
I seem to recall there are only about 10 TV channels on the site hook up, when it is working, but that's enough to get the weather forecast. But you don't really even need that because I can give you that now......rain...
There is a small games room with a pool table in, handy when......it rains.
I actually love the site and have been loads of times, but go prepared for rain and regard anything else as a bonus, those naughty Five Sisters drag in the clouds...

Munro, the facilities on club sites are always clean and in working order. Some will inevitably be older than others but they are always very usable and Morvich is no different. You have no need to worry.

As TW says the facilities are standard CC. The photo below is why we go to this area. We can always use those in the van if they become over stretched.
The photo was taken about 5 miles up a track from the site. Fairly easy generally levelish walking. The site, or over the mountain range to the left are the nearest roads. The more adventurous, and generally younger, carry on walking over the hills behind the camera to a remote youth hostel. We contented ourselves with walking back the way we had come.

When we visited, our first week was a bit damp, but only average for that part of the world. Never noticed any HS pitches with water on them, however the tent field ponded. It was right next to our van and I took this picture to send to my son, who was joining us, showing him were not to pitch.
The site is very low lying in the valley bottom and flat, so I can imagine that problems could occur. However, it is on alluvial gravels so drained fairly well. The puddle pictured was gone in a few hours.

Sorry M 21, have not had WIFI during last week. In answer to your question, we based ourselves in Plockton ( Lovely little Village ) and toured Skye. Also toured the area around Loch Carron taking in among others, the scenic route to Applecross.
