Site of the week: Sandringham Estate Club Site
Site of the Week Sandringham Estate Club Site is located in the heart of the Royal Estate and boasts more than enough facilities and activities to keep the whole family happy. We first stayed at Sandringham more than 30 years ago when the boys were quite young. It was very different then with the pitches in little nooks and crannies as it was all very wooded. We have stayed a couple of times since the site has been upgraded and liked it. Not been since we had the motorhome so perhaps time for a return visit?

The site would be fine if the club were able to get the Estate to control the Pigeon and Rabbit population. The Pigeons are especially troublesome, noisy and cause many a member problems.
Last time we were there a caravanner was leaving a little later than is usual. They had to remain behind whilst they cleaned the disgusting mess off their awning and advised anyone stopping not to pitch anywhere near their pitch number. It seems strange that the Estate managed to control the Pigeons along the road leading from the Royal Stud to the village of Anmer after Prince William acquired a property there! When we drove down this road 4 years ago it was full of Pigeons, 2 years ago and there wasn't one to be seen. I know the Club cannot do anything without the Estate's approval but this does need to be addressed.
Otherwise, and notwithstanding the problem with the disease from ferns that is causing concern for dog owners for which the club cannot do anything, the site is fine as club sites go.

We're on site at Sandringham now. Unfortunately leaving tomorrow.
Wonderful site, very convenient for the birdwatching reserves at Titchwell, Snettisham, Holme, etc.
And Kings Lynn is well worth a visit, don't forget your bus passes, very good service from near the site entrance.
A beautiful site, good size pitches and excellent facilities.
O.K. there are a lot of wood pigeons, but, life is much too short to get in a tizz about them.
Hope to be back in the Spring.

We've only used it as a very convenient one night stop over from up north to further into Norfolk. A very good neat site with the added attraction of a fish and chip van.

We had not been back to this site for 3 years, had very bad experience with two of the wardens, after travelling 200 mile in 75 degree temp we arrived 15 minutes earlier, was screamed at yes screamed at to turn around and leave and go and park up until 12 noon, has we were leaving to Motorhomes pulled on we parked up down the road after turning round at the cross roads. after ten minutes we went back to the site and parked behind the two motor home, my wife went in and found the man and wife wardens having good chin wag on old times. That's when the wife lost it, won't repeat what she said but she told the wardens if she ever spoke to her again in that manner she wouldn't be responsible for her actions, this was reported to the club, we had confirmation from the area manager who said he would report back, not a dicky bird was said. a few months later on this forum a title appeared Sandringham or stalag 14 which summoned it up. When we did finally go back the stalag wardens had gone and a most pleasant holiday was had.l know wardens have a tough job to do but their is ways and means of welcoming customers, l must say this is the only time we had any problems with any wardens all others have been very friendly and welcoming

Does anyone have any information about dogs becoming ill at this site? The club has posted a warning on the site's page on the website. Has anyone been unfortunate enough to experience this? Can it be avoided by keeping dogs on leads and away from woods? Is this a seasonal problem? We were due to visit Sandringham next week but now will avoid until we know more information. Many thanks.

There is a problem in some areas of the Sandringham estate with the seasonal disease that can be fatal to some dogs,there has been a thread on here about it, seems if dogs are kept on leads away from the undergrowth and paws washed after walks , (according to some one who has been there)they are ok ,the problem tends to recede by November (hope so as we are going then with our dog)

There is a fairly recent couple of months ago (or was 😉) a review on Sandringham as well as a thread running by the same person so do search them out. These detail the loss of a dog, very swift, and the other 2 in the vets on drips, I can't remember the outcome of those 2 if it were ever posted. Please do search these out, sorry I don't have time to find them and add links at the moment. Personally I wouldn't even contemplate taking my four legged friend because the risk is too great 😢
I've managed a swift search but didn't turn up what I was looking for 😂

Thinking of going here next year, having looked on google earth caravan site is close pegged but the camping club seem to have more space, also are the camping club strict about which way you park or are they more relaxed.

Of the two sites both are excellent but in my View the CMC is slightly better. last time l sited with the camping and caravan club you were allocated two pitches to choose from, the CMC allows you to pick your own, plus l think the facilities are far better on the CMC. You can walk from the CMC up through the woods via where the old shop stood too Sandringham and the dogs don't need to leave the path apart from where you cross the road, in june its a brilliant walk with all the rhododendrons out in a blaze of colour. Once you are through the wood and across the car park their is acres of space for the dogs to run. Sandringham is situated perfect for touring North Norfolk with lots of wonderful places to visit. Who needs the costas when you have places here in Britain to visit
