could technically be illegal. Another forum suggests they obscure the side marker light and increase the caravan width beyond the manufacturers specification..... Any thoughts?

I also travelled around for a couple of years with one on my caravan without any issues, they're great in my opinion. Changed to a motorhome now.

Absolutely fine , used one for years ........never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it made the slightest difference to car/ caravan handling or width specifications.

As for obscuring side marker lights .....don't make me laugh 😇

Our caravan dealer warned us off of them some years ago - said that they had a number of repair jobs from the bag banging on the side of the van. Since then the manufacturers have put more padding on the bag to prevent this. Extremely common on the continent of course.
