Over the weekend of the 15th-18th September, beach cleaning events will be taking place across British Beaches. For the first time, many of the plastics removed from events will be sorted and recycled, giving them a second life as new products.

If you would like to take part, have a look at events being organised by the Marine Conservation Society.

Ro, unfortunately this thread was posted too late for us to rearrange the weekend to participate.  Might be and idea for forthcoming events to be publicised with a banner headline?

I would have been interested in something like this. I did know it existed but had no idea when it took place, I live 45 mins to an hour from a beach so not advertised locally 😉.I've just seen this thread and it's too late.

Actually the posting date gave no advance notice so like Oneputt even if I'd seen it it may not have been possible.

I like the banner idea. 😃

Same here.  I would have been interested given a bit more notice.  Like Bakers2 we live about an hour from our nearest beach so it is advertised locally.

Already done a beach clean at Exmouth back in August and last weekend did a litter pick at Hubbards Hills nr Louth. These are called CITOs (Cache In Trash Out) and are organised as Geocaching events. Last weekend was the end to a great camping event held at a camp site behind a pub attended by about 25 units.
The Exmouth beach clean was part of the Devon UK Mega, a week long camping event, that attracts Geocachers from all over the world.
