Thetford N109 fridge replacement

Good morning everyone, first time post so please be gentle lol!

We have a Bailey Pageant Moselle '06 and our Thetford N109 fridge has stopped cooling/freezing.

We noticed an amonia type smell coming from around the fridge area but were unsure at the time what it could be. The battery was checked and that is OK.

We have been told that if the coolant has leaked then its more than likely new fridge time.

Is this the case or can anything be done? If not does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement at a reasonable cost?

Many thanks in advance

Rob

Sorry can't help on the fridge front but wanted to say hi and welcome 😆.

There's lots of knowledgable folks on here so hopefully you'll have some responses soon. Meanwhile you could try searching caravan breakers to see if you can locate a replacement one. The biggest issue will probably be finding one that fits in the space if you need a new one.

Just having problems with a n112 fridge I am afraid my fridge is done. A new one is needed at a cost with fitting just under a thousand pounds plus already spent three hundred and fifty on the old one.

As I have been told there is no gases in a caravan fridge it works by extracting warm air over the fins at the back of the fridge. But I have been wrong in the past.

Could  not  find  a  reference  to  a  N109  fridge  but  Googling    Thetford  fridges  brings  up  a  whole  range  of  'em  with  prices  and  physical  sizes.

One  thing  --> Absorbtion  fridges  don't  use  gases  as  far  as  I  am  aware,  but  Compressor  fridges  certainly  do.

If you only use electric hook up replace with normal domestic fridge of same size you would have to blank gas pipe fraction of Price

    Thanks all for replies :)

Have tried searching for a s/h model but they are quite elusive, found one but it was for parts only as it had the same issue as ours!

We've only got a couple of small trips away left this year so will use a wine cooler in the meantime and go back on the hunt after that.
