Lunar warranty

FD whilst travelling on the A75 in Dumfries this year we came to a little flooded area, the truck in front slowed down, we slowed down but the truck coming the other way didn't. The wall of water that hit us had the force to knock our offside mirror in (no damage) but when we got to the site and opened the van door there was water in the interior around the dining area and floor, I've always thought that the sealant around the windows looked a bit hit and miss. Not going to go through a warranty claim will just get all the windows resealed locally.
PS Glad we had the towing cover on

The Swift/Sterling construction method doesn't guarantee no water ingress, just that there is no wood that will rot. The internal wallboard is, I imagine still able to absorb moisture. It is the structural integrity that is protected by this construction method.

Round two, the workshop countered with all the documentation that showed we had the services both done within the 60 days of the date we took delivery, which we were given to believe was what the warranty demanded... Lunar have come back with... they will honour the warranty claim 'as a gesture of goodwill..' !!! even though they stand by their original decision that our warranty began when we paid the deposit
Now we wait for them to give us a date for the work to be done THEN I'll argue the toss with them over dates. Who in their right mind expects the warranty to start before they have the van, what about all those who order at the shows and then wait six months or more for it to arrive at the dealers ? It really is ridiculous, and if they had insisted I most certainly would have started a law suit, Grrrrrr !

Don't talk to me about Lunar we have a 2016 Delta, not a cheap van. Our under slung water tank fell off and they are insisting it's not a warranty claim. They claim i hit something which I certainly did not ! besides it would be a design fault as the Lunar range are low to the ground. Typical of manufacturers to dismiss claims that cover up their design and manufacturing faults

Hi guys we have just dropped our Lunar Venus into our supplying dealer as it has sprung a leak! It's a year old and the roof has starting leaking from above the front seating area. They want to replace the headlines, side wall, interior insulation and all the wrap around cupboards which are water damaged!!!!! My question is as this is my first van purchased 14 months back, even though it had its first service by them back in July which detected no damp, will this now be a 'marked ' van and once wet will the problem creep to other areas.
Any advice on how to progress this would be much appreciated

I don't think that there is a lot you can progress at present other than to get a repair ASAP and make sure that you are satisfied with it.
Will their be other problem areas developing? Not necessarily but there is always that worry of was the original sealant application botched and did the same muppet botch elsewhere.

Very true, unfortunately the service guys comment, this is so much more than 'just' a leak , has made me nervous. He thinks I'll loose the van for at least two weeks, once Lunat agree and send the parts out.
lets hope Mr Muppet just ran out of glue on the first seam and then got a new tube 😂😂

I can't believe that Lunar consider that the warranty starts at the date of deposit. In most cases the caravan isn't even built at that time so how can one apply a warranty to something that doesn't exist? Also, do Lunar expect that the sevicing is based on deposit date? This is ludicrous. The caravan may have only been on the possession of the owner for a few months, nowhere near a year.

Someone has the wrong end of the stick, warranty starts from the day of purchase not the deposit date, my own Warranty Registration Acknowledgement confirms the date of purchase and the commencement of warranty. If you order a van at the NEC it will may well be built in the new year!

We are singing from the same song sheet harryb. Our Clubman which we purchased new, has just reached the end of its warranty period, in which time its been in at least five times with faults some major some minor. All front windows buckled, toilet faulty, fridge packing up, amongst other things. The latest was that the floor in the centre of the van became spongy, yes delamination. The Warranty jobs have been carried out by Preston's, who have served us well. But why should we be getting this second rate service by manufacturers, if we are leaving the EU and going alone they will have to do better than this in the wider market place or fail.

Very pleased with my Lunar Clubman ES now approaching 6 years old.
What has been corrected under warranty.
On collection seat squab on dinette seam not quite square. Replaced by Bellafield promptly.
Grill burners on cooker dropped. I blame scottish roads. Nut and bolt came undone and repaired under warranty with addition of loctite or similar. (I blame Scottish Roads).
Paid for by me.
New pump for toilet flush parts only at service.
This year at 5+ years 230v fridge element.
I am about to replace the Alde pump in header tank as the existing one after much use has started to get noisy.
Overall pleased and would have ordered a replacement if they had not raised the seating height on front benches.

Update on our Lunar problems...Finally, we have had our repair done, it took from august last year until last week, mid-april to get the work done but we are now up in yorkshire finally got the van back on friday afternoon in time to leave for Sledmere on sunday morning and we are now working, setting up for the National. Big shout out for Canterbury Caravans they did our repair and a service too in a week for us.

yes, we waited from last august til april this year for the parts to get to the workshop, then it was mad time when everyone wanted their vans serviced before the start of the 'season', luckily we had booked ours in for service much earlier so they used that slot to fit in the fix first with the service after it, still nearly 8 months all told waiting.
