Motor home awning
just bought a bailey autograph 75-2 and am looking for an awning. The van comes with a fiamma canopy which you can attach an awning to.
Any suggestions? I have been looking at a Kampa, views anyone?

The first thing i would ask is do you need one. We have had a motorhome for 5 years now and not found the need.
There may be reasons you want one but have you tried using it without. I couldn't suggest one type over another but i would suggest that you might find someone on the facebook Bailey motorhome group many of them on there use awnings. I would be careful if going down the route of an air awning on the front of a canopy as the weight has been known to damage the Fiamma.

I too would ask your reason for an awning. We've been motorhoming 11 years and we have a fiamma canopy with a safari room attachment. We once tried to attach the room - hardwork couldn't drive anywhere without dismantling completely. Never had the need of an awning, the canopy has always been sufficient.

We don't have an awning, but do have the windblocker shades, which are panels which can be attached to either sides and/or front, however you wish to do it. Link HERE
We've just had 1 side on, but have had 2, depending on wind direction. At other times we don't bother. The advantage is that they're very lightweight.
I wouldn't want a full awning either, we've had MHs for 17 years now and never felt the need.

A good awning is not cheap, but does provide extra space. We bought the Vango driveaway kela 2 tall blow up air awning. It provides room to store stuff and an extra bedroom when we take kids. Also a space to sit outside.
We like the Vango, it's well made in my opinion. It might be worth going to the motorhome show at the NEC next month and having a look at all the makes to compare.

We used to have a drive away awning attached to the rail on the Fiamma Canopy. Alignment was a bit tricky when returning to site to ensure that we were near enough to slide the "figure of 8" track between the awning and canopy. Whether it was the difference in height but we could never get the entrance tunnel between the two neat and tight. The problem solved itself when as we were going out for the day, having uncoupled the two a gust of wind caused a loose section to hook around the end of my towbar. Big rip and end of awning. That was five years ago and never needed one since. All we do is set up a windbreak which forms a corner where one of the Fiamma legs meets the ground.

agreed, depends what ypu want to do with it....
we have a large garage so dont need an awning just to use to 'store stuff'....and for the most part, sit outside the van in sunshine, where a roll out Fiamma/Omnistore will provide quick shade. (or shower protection) if required....
awnings are heavy bulky items and i would also be questioning your payload in this van if you are trying to run it at 3500kg, which is the Baily default for this one....a 7.5m van with a long overhang is going to be mighty close on your rear axle limit...check ypur available capacity (at a weighbridge) before spending cash on something you cant carry

I pretty much agree with all of the above, I bought a Fiamma Zip which sounds like yours, and the front/sides have been fitted twice in 8 or 9 years, I've got to consider it a complete waste of money, however the roof is rolled out 99% of the time. So I'd be very reluctant to pay the extra for the sides in future.
