Did you see any of the 8 ft. wide ones? They looked much more spacious inside when we saw them first introduced at last years NEC Birmingham show.

Yes we did Malcolm, they had 3 on display that we noticed. It's surprising the difference it makes inside but I wonder if it makes just a big a difference when you're trying to tow them down narrow roads 😊

Your post reminds me of when we visited Erddig. We had a lovely day out there. Plenty to see in both the House and Gardens. I remember it being in between Wrexham and Bangor on Dee and a long country road on the approach with lovely countryside views.

I pay my car tax by monthly direct debit so that it renews every year automatically. So no need even to spend five minutes of bother over that!

Perhaps it's time for a change, redface. There'll be plenty of new models on display at the show!

Even the 7ft. 6 ins. wide normal sized ones won't fit down some lanes that are reduced to 6ft. 6 ins. wide. So whatever caravan you have, you'll still need to avoid some roads. An extra 3 ins. on each side shouldn't make a huge amount of difference when travelling but it does make much more comfort inside when you don't have to squeeze past a transverse bed to get to the washroom!

Bit of rain this morning so just chilling in the van until it clears.

Lots of departures so far today, no arrivals as yet always wonder where folk are going when i see them leave. I guess for some here they will be heading for Spain for the winter, lucky devils.

Bruises from my dispute with the bike and ground are all but gone thankfully, however my knee is still sore to touch, even putting jeans on is a no no if going on the bike, as when i start to pedal the tightness/pressure really hurts. Body getting old is no fun especially when your head and heart thinks its still in their 20s.

Sky is getting lighter and the rain is just a few spots now so hopefully we will be able to get out after lunch.

Mr H has been to the GP surgery for his blood test this morning to check his pernicious anaemia and B12 levels.  I went with him as I always do since he passed out and ended up in A&E when he had a blood test this time last year. Our surgery are now doing the flu jabs so both of us probably back again on Thursday afternoon for those.  Now back to trying to dry the awning and ground sheet.surprised

Tammygirl, I agree with your about your head and heart still thinking you are in your 20s but your body doesn't agree.

Perhaps the GP will need to give him a prescription for iron tablets. I had anaemia and was on iron tablets but it wasn't on repeat prescription and I've run out.

We've just had lunch, a light lunch of just soup. For the first time in 3 days, I'm able to recline and fall asleep in the relaxer!

I've just booked two nights at the club site in Littlehampton from when our 21 nights here are up that will take us to 9th October. So no more hotels! 9th to 11th booked then back here from 11th October to 1st November, then 2 nights away again and back here from 3rd to the closing date of 6th November. I've got Lancing Fruit Farm CL booked for 28 nights thereafter. So that's us sorted up until 4th December. Two and a half weeks after that will be Baltic Wharf Club site for the two weeks of Christmas and New Year 21st December to 4th January 2018. Perhaps Charmill Cottage for the two and a half weeks in between.

Malc, pernicious anaemia isnt the same as anaemia, its  a more serious form but nowadays it can be treated with B12 injections. At one time some years ago folk died of PA, thankfully now that isn't  the case. My Mum has PA.

Is it really worth moving back for just 3 days (3 -6 nov) i think i would just move on the 1st and be done with it.

Sun came out late lunchtime so managed a cycle up to the shops, currently lots of big fluffy clouds but thankfully no rain. Still warm enough for crops smile

I'd never heard of pernicious anaemia before. The only anaemia I know about is iron deficiency anaemia.

Yes we could just move on and not stay here the last three nights but that would cost us an extra £36 because the CL is £12 a night. Why pay extra when the seasonal pitch is paid for up until 6th November? We plan to come back here for the last 3 nights but we will probably not bother putting up the awning for such a short period of time.

It was the same last year. We came back here after two days away for just 3 nights before our seasonal pitch came to an end.

Anyhow, having woken up from an afternoon nap, we've just had tea in the awning with some hot chocolate fudge cake to go with it. That has finished off the last of the cake we had left.

There have been some light showers this afternoon. There's a lot of cloud around as I type this but still some patches of blue sky and sunshine.

I remeber feeling the pinch last year as soon as our seasonal pitch came to an end. We had to pay £390 a month in site fees.

Yes Tammygirl Mr H has to have regular B12 injections and then a blood test every so often to check they have the dose right.

Sounds like you have some good weather. Ours is slowly improving.  No wind and no rain so far today smile

It does, they are noticably "fat" when you see them on the road.

Certainly would not want to tow one of those on the roads down here in Cornwall!

It might be worthwhile to consider making your journey using wider roads, even though this may add extra distance, in order to get the benefit of more spacious accommodation when you arrive on site, don't you think? After all, your caravan probably spends a lot more time parked on a site than it does travelling on the road!

Malcolm, we are not daft, we do stick to the main roads as much as possible, but there are times when you have to leave a main road to get to a site!

To get here (Merrose Farm) we followed the Club directions, which presumably use the best roads, but even A roads down here are often not that great, and when you meet a big lorry or a bus, or even a big MH, on a narrow bend, it is not good.

No way would I have wanted to be negotiating these roads in a van that was 6 inches wider!

The "fat" vans are great for seasonal pitches, but not for towing on UK roads, or indeed on the roads of many countries.  You do not see many of them being towed around even in Germany, where they do make quite a lot of these big vans.

Since we  do have a house to live in, the caravan is just holiday accommodation and we find our present van perfectly big enough.

We have just passed 40,000 towing miles in just over 9 years, so it has spent a while on roads.

You keep very good records, KjellNN. I haven't a clue how many towing miles I have done, only overall mileage which includes solo usage as per the car mileometer.

Granddaughters grommet operation swift and hopefully successful 😃. One ear swollen and another infection starting 😲😢 - all sucked out. No need for isolation these days!

Did some washing and dried outside 😃. Met friend for cuppa, she lost her mum on Friday so was good to chat.

Did some shopping in town then Lidl and Farm Foods to stock cupboards freezer and motorhome ready for local trip tomorrow 😃.

Malcolm I am shocked at the total cost of 2 days stay in a hotel 😲😲 I expected from the cost you posted when you booked and that you ate in the hotel it was all covered in the original cost. Still youre racking up the Tesco points 😉

Milliehull I hope the awning is now dry, and that Mr H blood test will be OK.

Our previous van did about 32,000 miles over the same length of time, I was not retired then so less time to use it!

It's the long trips to the north of Norway that pile on the miles, but I doubt we will take the van up there again now.

Yes, on every trip the distance travelled and the cost of the holiday is recorded.  I also record all the fuel used by our cars for whatever purpose.    I like to know that we are keeping within our budget, both while at home and when on holiday.

Another good day today, no rain at all, so far.

Went down to St Mawes, then on to Towan Beach.

After a picnic lunch we went up to St Austel for a look around, did some shopping, and filled fuel.

    Time to make dinner now.

    Last day here tomorrow.

Thanks Helenandtrevor I hope so too. Worked well for her sister and her uncle so fingers crossed.

Isn't an extra day off wonderful?  I do miss that these day 😢.  Enjoy your long weekend.

I trust your dinner was/is nice. Certainly lovely surprise and very welcome. After years of being the meal provider I'm grateful for any meal prepared by someone else 😉. OH became house husband several years ago but noticed meals soon came back my way. Mind you I try, depending on what we're up too, to do a night about! And even with a dishwasher whoever Cooks the other clears. When we both worked household chores were halved too  😃 now it's still shared but slightly different 😃

Just had the car MOT'd so last 3 years we've racked up 45k.  As our tow car sits outside the house between trips I doubt we put 500 miles solo per annum.  So we have done 43.5k on our trips.

Mixed weather here today, sun out now.  Spent the day pottering inside and outside but didn't really achieve too much.  Time for a beer before supper.
