Lunar Cracks Front & Rear
We bought a new Lunar Clubman SI in March 2016 and at it's first service 12 months later nothing showed up on the damp test. In June this year we went on holiday to Austria (960 miles each way) and one night when it was raining heavily, we found water dribbling from the front, off side speaker. To cut a long story short, it turned out that there was a 5" crack in the front panel where it meets the roof on the off side. When the supplying agent checked the van for the warranty claim, they found a similar crack in the rear panel but on the near side. The van now needs to have both front and back panels replaced and we are currently waiting for Lunar to give approval for the work to be carried out (Now almost six weeks and counting!).It seems strange to me that both panels should crack in opposite corners and I'm wondering if this is a symptom of something more serious i.e. lack of structural integrity? So my question is has anyone else experienced this type of problem with a Lunar caravan or is there a more serious problem or have we just been unlucky?
One further issue and that is, despite Lunar assurances that you can use any of their dealers for repairs, local dealerships don't want to know. I now have to face 2 x 400 mile round trips for repairs to be carried out on top of the 400 miles I've already travelled for them to look at it!

Hi tommo, we too have a Lunar which a week ago started to show signs of damp and a couple of days later we had water running down the bedroom wall.
We have informed the supplying dealer, app 200 miles away, and will be taking it to the local service centre we have used since 1995 and who are approved by both clubs, the NCC and all main brands.
It is a sad reflection on British vans that all four new vans I have bought have needed a workshop visit to rectify faults. I firmly believe that using a service centre, as opposed to as dealer, is an advantage as they have no brand loyalty to worry about but that does not mean that it will be plain sailing or that things will be any speedier-last year we waited 6 months for Lunar to supply replacement windows.

Sorry to hear your tale of woe. Didn't the dealer indicate what the underlying cause was. It seems that some underlying cause is flexing the bodywork
Have you tried Swindon, Oxford and Reading dealers, all belong to the same group and are Lunar dealers. I would telephone dealers within. 100 miles of you. One Lunar dealer once told me they would never turn away business.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Sorry to hear of your problems. Our last caravan was a Lunar about a year old the dealer noticed we had crazy cracking on the rear near side top and back roof corner. The back panel was replaced under warranty but took almost a year to do as the first panel when arrived was damaged. To give the dealer his due he noticed it before they unloaded it and rejected it straight away. We loved the van and kept it for another 2 years without further issues.
