Site arival and pitch finding

As HD, that's we have been asked to do ever since we have used club sites. It have never been a problem. You drive around until you see the pitch you want.
also you write:
I have yet to see it enforced in such a way as to result in artificial queues, mass 12 oclock arivals or problems due to late departures
I just wondered where you have seen these issues on a club site if you arrive after lunch and have stated you don't use club sites very often? or are you just reporting on what one thread has said on one site?
The current practice has been going on for a good many years and appear to work well over 200+ sites (you can’t really quote one reported example as being the same across all sites) and if there was such a big problem why do people keep coming back to club sites in large numbers?

David please find the thread post that said :90 to 100 vans turning up pretty much simultaneously
12 o'clock scrambles are endemic
again I can only think of one thread that has reported on this happening and that was Moreton, endemic means happens on a regular basis to a large number of people. I personally don't think that this problem is endemic ie across all sites
So to answer your question while there is a problem at one site it is not the case across all sites.

It is again interesting to note that those who use club sites the least, and even say they don't like them, too expensive... are the one who want all the changes? To suit them perhaps?
You don't like the way thing happen on club? leave them to those who do. If enough people stop using club sites then things will change but only then

I think part of the reason for early or mass 12 noon arrivals is that you cannot book a specific pitch or even a H/S.
I am not advocating being able to book a specific pitch for all the reasons previously stated on CT but I know when we are going to a commercial site, one that allows you to book a specific pitch, we are much more relaxed about our arrival time, what's the rush if we know where we're going...?
But on CC sites (ie no specific pitch booked) and if there are a limited number of H/S then we do aim to be bang on 12 noon. After all we don't want to pay premium prices for a third rate patch of mud, a la "spinning wheels" thread....
But again, it depends on how long we are staying, if it's one night we don't really care within reason......

again all very good points - I won't go to a site that doesn't have hard standing so being there at 12 isn't that much of a problem as I know I'll get a HS.

I'm not sure how many times or ways this theme can be rehashed without saying the same things over and over again!
I'd like to be on CAMC sites earlier than midday and on many sites we know, with absolutely no access problems, I can never understand why it's not possible. But at the moment I accept that it's not and if I go to a CAMC site I arrive as close to the permitted time as possible, not to bag the "best" pitch but to make the best use of my valuable time.
When we choose a site the first priority is location - it might be (either) club or commercial (rarely) or a CL - if it's where we want to be and has good reviews and is what I consider good value then we'll choose it and accept whatever conditions the site owners have in place. It's their site, after all.
What I certainly would want to have to do is book a year in advance to secure a particular pitch as I gather some sites require!

Forgive me if that was your aim then the discussion is no better here, UK sites and touring is not specifically for club sites and never has been. Club and non club sites have been discussed there. As it says on the tin:
Recommend favourite sites, ask questions, share advice and talk about UK trips.
And what you hope is rather besides the point. You can certainly hope but as this is the CAMC site you can't really expect that people won't bring in the club or even as OP try to stop or control what is written, sorry. Try posting on some non club discussion site?

I usually arrive around 12.10. Rarely more than one or two other outfits. Happy to drive round and find a pitch. After a 2 or 3 hour drive I would not be walking around to find a pitch ....... I would be hobbling around
I would much prefer 11am arrival but live with present situation without complaint

instructed? sully Hardly civil there? Are you changing the goalposts david here you did say:
I hope the discussion can be widened from purely CAMC practices
(Nothing about over there
You did say the wider world however
Did you mean this to only about 'over there' as you put? If so you should have posted into the Overseas sites and touring, that is the place for over there.
As you posted here I assume we can talk about UK customs?
Please stay on topic and don't try and be a mod?

Yes I thought so too. Perhaps David can clarify?

Just goes to show how different we all are, David. It wouldn't suit us driving all that way and then staying on the same site for 4 weeks, particularly if we'd been there before.
But I can see that if it suits you, if it's where you want to be and a place you know and like, then it is worth booking in advance and, yes, 25 euros is a small price to pay for having that peace of mind. Hope you're enjoying it - we've certainly enjoyed everywhere we've been in Croatia and plan to visit again next year.
PS - mind you, it was a bit misleading, then, wasn't it, to say as you did a short while ago when comparing the UK with "over there", "we're shortly off for 6 weeks, nothing booked..." when in fact for 4 of those weeks you had not only a site, but a specific pitch booked!

David I'm really confused, you say one thing in one post, then something else in another?
shame as this could be quite an interesting thread if it was clear and you let people post?
But your premise in your OP rests on the statement that :
artificial queues, mass 12 oclock arivals or problems due to late departures .
where is your evidence for this? It appears that you are trying to solve a problem that does not exist, and to what end?
12 o'clock scrambles are endemic and just recently reports of 90 to 100 vans turning up pretty much simultaneously
So I'll ask again where is the post that says this? I could take in a few hours but pretty simultaneously, That could be over 1000m (taking 7m for an caravan and MH, then towcars) A queue of over 1 Km?
If you want a sensible discussion then don't make such non nonsensical statements?

David did you book or not?

I've just logged in and have a strange feeling of deja vu.......
What is going on here? No, please, there's no need for anyone to elaborate. I'll cope.
