Leisure Battery Charger

Can anyone advise me what is the best battery charger for my caravan battery? I am not able to tour during the winter months so store my caravan in a friends secure barn. It will be in storage for approximately 4 months. I am thinking of removing the battery and place it on a maintenance charge over winter. Is this the correct thing to do or is it best left on the caravan without the ability to get charged?

    Remove the battery and either put it on a maintenance charge for the winter using a charger meant for this purpose. many on this site recommend one supplied by CTEK. Alternatively keep it somewhere you can attend to it once a month to give it a boost charge and if it is not a maintenace free one keep an eye on the level of electrolyte in each cell.

    I agree, Ctek charger will make it last longer.

    Many thanks to peedee and ihatework. I would like to tour through the winter but unfortunately that is not an option for me. I will invest in a Ctek charger.
